Leanne Mitchell has revealed that she has her brand new single ready to be released later this year.
The 29 year old holiday camp singer won The Voice last year but has barely been heard from since, ever since her first single ‘Run To You’ flopped in the charts.
She was mentored by Tom Jones and beat series favourite Bo Bruce during the final last summer and speaking at the National Television Awards last night Leanne revealed that ever since she has been in the studio working hard on her new music. She signed a recording deal estimated at £500,000 after the conclusion of the series in 2012.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, before BBC’s The Voice lost out to fellow beeb series Strictly Come Dancing in the Best Talent Category, Mitchell confirmed that her second single is titled ‘If You Knew’ and was self penned.
The singer from Lowestoft, Suffolk, also shed some light on why she thinks her debut single did so badly in the charts following her win and she thinks it’s all down to the lack of promotion the track got.
Leanne explained: “To be honest, I think because it’s on the BBC I think it’s very difficult to get as much exposure as maybe you would on other programmes.
“It hasn’t bothered me, but the main thing I wanted to work on is my album. So hopefully people will get to hear that very soon.”
She’s putting the finishing touches to her songs today and Mitchell tweeted this morning saying:
“Had a great night last night, but tired this morning! Nothing that a cup of tea cant sort out! back to studio today to do some final vocals!”
She’s certainly been putting the hours in and last week filmed some footage for her new music video. She revealed:
“Now on my way for a big filming recording session with label guys! Hope it goes ok! I feel like I’m auditioning again! ;)x”
