Tinie Tempah agreed to assist Tom Jones at this year’s battle rounds on The Voice, but apparently he didn’t think it was worth doing any research beforehand.
The ‘Written In The Stars’ hitmaker will make his first appearance on the BBC show this weekend, when he’ll work with Tom and his singers to prepare them for their battle, head to head performances.
However he didn’t sign up because he’s a big fan of the show. On the contrary, Tinie doesn’t watch it and up until this week thought that Danny O’Donoghue was still on the panel. Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Martin replaced him months ago!
Chatting with The Sun this week Tinie made no bones about his lack of knowledge. He asked:
“Danny’s not doing it any more? It’s the Kaiser Chiefs? And Kylie now?
“So it’s whatshisname, Tom from the Kaiser Chiefs? The other Tom, Tom Jones, and who is the other one? Will.i.am? Oh, sorry Ricky? My bad.”
Tempah also revealed that he’s a big fan of Will.i.am, mostly because he’s not an ‘a**hole’ and dresses like he’s from the future and he’s impressed by Tom…..well because he’s still alive.
Meanwhile, Bryan Adams has admitted that he was offered a spot on The Voice’s coaching panel two years ago, but turned it down.
The Canadian star revealed that he finds it “cringey” to watch the TV talent shows these days and told The Mirror that he prefers to concentrate on his own music career than try to find the next big recording star.
The ‘I Would Do Anything For Love’ hitmaker said:
“I’d rather be writing my own music than sitting on a chair, judging people.”
Unlike Tinie, Bryan has tuned in but he revealed that watching Tom Jones hesitate constantly made him cringe so much, that he was delighted he’d turned it all down.
‘That would have been me’, and I would be doing that the whole time. It would be really cringey.”
We’re a bit sad over this news. Bryan would have been an amazing mentor!
