Ricky Wilson has admitted that he took two years to consider an offer to join The Voice coaching panel.
The Kaiser Chiefs star was originally asked to join the BBC show back in 2011, but decided not to take part. His spot was filled by The Script star Danny O’Donoghue who coached for two years, before announcing his departure last summer.
Ricky took his place for the 2014 series and in an interview with The Mirror he admitted that for a long time, all he could think about is what was ‘wrong’ with the idea and the not the ‘one huge benefit.’
He has been slated by many music fans for joining the reality TV show but the criticism doesn’t offend him and Ricky laughed:
“Some people would think I’m a ginger c**k even if I ended all war.”
This weekend Ricky and his fellow coaches will be seen leading their teams into the first vocal battles.
The stars have paired up each of their contestants and the singers will go head to head, with only one of them remaining in the original team for the knockout rounds.
Wilson will work with Katy B, Will.i.am has called in Leah Mc’Fall, Tom Jones will be assisted by Tinie Tempah and Kylie Minogue has asked for help from Jakes Shears.
The Scissor Sisters frontman has been close friends with the Australian celeb for years and in a new interview with Attitude magazine he confessed that they have worked together so many times in the past, he could release a whole album of duets with the pint sized popstar.
Gushing about the ‘cool’ tracks and the piles of songs, Jake teased:
‘We could definitely put together a fun little album. Someday I’m gonna be shifty and leak it.’
Meanwhile, Will.i.am is set to cause a few giggles with his Michael Jackson impression this weekend. He also tries to compliment one of Ricky’s singers but ends up more or less calling him a walrus.
