It has been revealed this evening that the lovely Emma Willis will take over from Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates as the new presenter of The Voice UK.
The Voice UK is set to return for its third series on BBC One early next year in a bid to avoid a clash with Britain’s Got Talent.
In a statement released by the BBC, Emma Willis said: “The Voice is an absolutely brilliant TV show with the unique ability to showcase and nurture amazing raw talent. I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of it and I cannot wait to get started”.
Wiloughby and Yates also confirmed their exit in a statement, in which Willoughby said: “After much consideration, I will not be returning for series three of The Voice UK. I’ve had two wonderful years on the show, and I feel very privileged to have been a part of it.
“Finding the right balance between my work and family life is my priority and this has contributed to my decision. I look forward to watching the next series from my sofa, and I wish the whole team the best of luck”.
Yates added: “I’ve had a fantastic time on the last two series of The Voice UK and I wish all the team the best of luck for the new series”.
A new co-host to accompany Emma will be announced next week, according to the BBC.
The announcement comes off the back of the Celebrity Big Brother finale which took place last night on Channel 5, in which Emma helms both the main series of Big Brother and the celebrity version of the show.
Emma wrote on Twitter this evening: “I am insanely excited to be joining the team @BBCTheVoiceUK What a bonkers year it’s been… Can’t wait to get started!!!”
Upon the announcement being released by the BBC, Holly tweeted her congratulations to Emma: “I leave you in the safe hands of the beautiful @Emma_Willis …congratulations my darlin girl! Xxx”
In other The Voice UK news, it has been revealed that Kylie Minogue will join the panel for the next series following the departure of Jessie J and Danny O’Donoghue. A fourth and final coach is set to be announced shortly who will complete the panel along with Will.i.am and Tom Jones.
The Voice UK looks to be undergoing a major shake-up in a bid to boost the ratings. Moving the show to air a tad earlier, two brand new judges and new presenters will surely bring the viewers back, right?
