The Voice UK 2014: Emily Adams

Oh we do love to be beside the seaside! And this evening, 18-year-old Emily Adams brought a bit of Blackpool to The Voice UK studios.

The singer works in her dads hotel in Blackpool when he needs her, but her parents say she’ll only help out when she really needs some ‘pocket money’.

In her VT, Emily said that people her age are off to college and getting their A-Levels, but that’s not what she wants to be doing. Her dream is to be singing.

Emily performed a powerful rendition of Etta James’ ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ which gave Emma Willis goosebumps!

Throughout the performance, Sneaky Willy had a smile on his face, and the other coaches seemed to be loving it. After waiting it out quite a while, Ricky Wilson turned his chair, which meant that Emily automatically won herself a place on Team Ricky!

“Well, I’m a full time college student, but apart from that, this is what I do and you’ve just made my dream come true,” she told Ricky.

tom jones ricky wilson the voice told her: “Waw! I wasn’t expecting that, visually from what I heard…” when asked what he was expecting, he joked “my aunt!”

He continued: “The only reason I didn’t turn around was because I have a singer and you’re similar to her”.

Tom told Emily: “First of all, I’m jealous. You sound great and I do have a lot of girls on my team but it was great!”

“First of all welcome to the team. The reason I pressed my button was because I was hearing you and I turned around… it’s going to be great. Thank you for singing”.

All the coaches seemed to be loving Emily’s rendition of I’d Rather Go Blind, but it looks like only Ricky loved it enough to give the student a chance.
