The Voice UK: Kylie Minogue admits new album with ROC NATION ‘hasn’t been the easiest road’
Kylie Minogue has admitted that she has faced a lot of challenges while making her new album.
The Australian star is entering a period of big change in her professional life and as well as signing up for the new series of The Voice UK, where she replaces Jessie J on the coaching panel, she also switched labels and signed with Jay Z’s ROC NATION for her new record in 2013.
Minogue is making plenty of changes to her musical style and is excited to get fans’ opinions when the songs go on sale for the first time later this year.
She’ll return to our screens this weekend and told The Sun that she needed a bit of a shake up by the end of 2012.
“I actually didn’t know where I was going or what the future held at the end of 2012.
“There’s been a lot of change, this album is about taking the plunge and embracing the future and not holding on to things from the past.”
Kylie flew to LA to record her new material, worked with new songwriters, new producers and a whole new studio team. Even for the established star it was a daunting experience but she says it’s all paid off now.
“It wasn’t the easiest road but signing with Roc Nation, spending a lot of time in America and doing The Voice gave me a challenge and I needed that to feel reinvigorated,” the pint sized pop star revealed.
“It’s not been easy but it’s rewarding.”
Kylie is preparing to release her new single Into The Blue very soon, with her album dropping weeks later.
She’s worried about how the record will be received but is excited about the prospect also and continued:
She said: “I always get nervous. I’ve invested a lot in this album, pretty much all of last year.
“I genuinely can’t wait for people to hear it. I want to deliver the gift and move to the next phase with it.”
Minogue’s song will get it’s first air play at the end of this month and she tweeted fans this week saying:
“#Lovers! Who is coming #IntoTheBlue with me? Hear my new single #IntoTheBlue January 27!”
This weekend The Voice airs it’s second episode of blind auditions and while Kylie is her usual bubbly self, Will.i.am and Tom Jones get a little weird when they chat about aliens…..and dolphins!
