The ladies were given Fighter by Christina Aguilera as their battle track and mentor Ricky Wilson was impressed with their spirit from the minute they entered rehearsals.
“This is the battle of the Blackpool girls. They have lived within half a mile of each other all their lives, and have never met.”
The Kaiser Chiefs frontman added:
“Emily is showing me a lot of fight but I don’t think she’s shown me everything just yet. [She’s] clever. I wouldn’t want to get between them, it’s letting the tiger out of it’s cage. It’s incredible.”
Katy B was working with Ricky in advising the hopefuls and she seemed to be leaning towards Emily too, saying:
“I definitely think that Fighter is a very difficult song to sing. I did see in her face that Kelsey Beth is a little bit worried but I think it’s doable.”
The girls took to the stage to perform their track for the coaches and while both gave a very impressive performance, the song was definitely better suited to Adams.
“I thought this might be a shouting competition and it isn’t that, it felt like you were singing together, it didn’t seem like you hate each other.”
Tom Jones picked his favourite right away, saying:
“For me, Emily was into it that bit more.”
Kylie Minogue said:
“I think the song was more suited to Emily, if it was a different song maybe my opinion would be different. I think you did a great job kelsey Beth, but it was more her kind of thing.”
When the moment came to make his choice, Ricky chose to take Emily forward in the competition and none of the other coaches stole Kelsey, so she went home.
