61 year old Liz Oki made a massive impression on Will.i.am on tonight’s episode of The Voice.

The retired performer sang A Different Corner for the coaches but before singing she explained:

“I have been in various bands over the years and music in my life has been the one thing that gets me up in the mornings when things feel bad.”

She added:

“I grew up in two children’s homes. The lady I called mum was the one constant in my life from when I was a child. She has known me better than anyone I know and she passed two weeks ago. She has been there throughout my life, was very proud of me and I would like to do this for her as well.”

Who is in The Voice 2014 battle rounds? Team Tom, Team Kylie, Team Will.i.am & Team Ricky revealed!

“This is the culmination of everything I have ever done in my life, this is the pinnacle.”

None of the stars turned to offer Liz a place in their teams, however Oki did move Will.i.am to tears.

The Black Eyed Peas star wept for his late aunt and told the singer:

“You remind me of my aunt Stephanie and thank you for singing today.”

“I had my back turned and when you said I’m so scared, I thought of my Aunty Stephanie.”

“She passed away on Easter and my Grandma passed away on Thanksgiving and I told myself that my aunt passed away to be with my Grandma. I know she was afraid. She used to sing when we held family dinners, when I turned around you have the same skin complexion and I thank you for singing today.”

Kylie added:

“I am sorry to hear about your mum, singing is the way to express yourself and to bring out the emotions in other people. I think that’s what we do it for. You did that today and thanks for sharing it with us.”

I think Williams emotional outburst got in the way of the women liz oki , the judges also got caught up in the moment. This took away this womens once in a lifetime opportunity , I loved her version of “A different Corner” originally performed by George Michael, I prefered Liz Oki’s version.
William should have been more professional after all Liz Oki had suffered a loss of her mum, she kept it together and gave her performance without a tear in the house
