X Factor winner, Alexandra Burke has become the first British female to sell over one million singles in the UK.

Her song, ‘Hallelujah’ has been at the number one spot for three weeks and has also become the biggest-selling single for a UK female solo artist in chart history.

I am busy wondering if so many people purchased the track because they like Alexandra, they like the X Factor or they liked the song? Could she have done this without the huge X shaped launch pad? No way! On the other hand could the X Factor have sold this many records with a winner like Leon Jackson? Definitely not.

The X Factor obviously got the formula right this year and no one is as glad as Mr Cowell, whose record company owns all the rights to not only Burke’s version of the song but also the two previous versions which also climbed into the top ten singles over Christmas.
