Former X Factor winner Alexandra Burke has revealed that she wants to do more to help the people of Haiti, than just sing a few lines on a charity single.

So upset is Alex by the images she has seen on TV, that she has begged her record label to fly her out to Haiti so she can physically help the victims of the recent earthquake.

In an interview with The News Of The World Alexandra said:

“For me singing two lines on a single doesn’t mean I have really helped.

“I wanted to go out and physically help the kids. I’m not a doctor, but I can give clothes, food and love. At least I’ll be able to make a couple of kids smile.”

She added: “It hurt me when I saw the photographs of dead bodies on the streets.

“I was really angry, thinking ‘what is this world coming to?’ That is when I begged my label to let me go out there.

“Their immediate answer was that I was doing my part by singing on the Helping Haiti single. But I said that wasn’t big enough.”

Alex flies out this Tuesday and is currently collecting supplies to bring with her.

She added: “For me this isn’t about exposure – it’s about nothing more than trying to help.”
