Alexandra Burke has revealed that Simon Cowell fully supports her trip to Haiti.

The former X Factor winner left for the country today, after becoming moved by much of the TV footage of the disaster aftermath.

Burke told Live From Studio Five yesterday: “He’s happy that I’m going out there. He’s proud of it. But I’m not looking for that – I’m not looking for any judgement at all, I just want to do it of my own accord because I feel the need to.”

On why she wants to visit the country personally Burke said: “My point is to come back and show people in the UK that what’s going on is still happening. It’s not going to go away.

“I’m not going out there without any expectation, I’m going out there to purely help. I cannot sit in my living room any longer, watch TV channels and see this devastation happening while I sit there and enjoy my cup of tea. It doesn’t work like that with me.”
