Alexandra Burke - X Factor 2008

Deservedly and rightfully, Alexandra Burke has won X Factor 2008.

Our poll has called it right all night, with Eoghan ranking last, JLS second and Alexandra in top place all the way!

Alex was amazing tonight as she sang alone and with Beyonce. Her version of the winners single beat JLS’ into the ground and was the stuff stars are made of.

Do you agree with tonight’s result or were you backing JLS or Eoghan? Let us know in the comments form below!

Also can we just offer a round of applause for the X Factor judges who managed to find someone more talented than Leon Jackson!

The result could not be better. Alexandra Burke is fantastic.

  2. coco says:

Alex all the way, she has been the best by far the whole way through the competition so there was no question she would win.

  3. Sarah says:

Laura was my favourite and then Alex and Austin joint second, when this competition first started. I was slightly surprised that my hopefuls were all in the live shows. It was wrong when Austin went and I was absolutely gutted when Laura went. Obviously when Laura went I backed Alexandra the whole way and it turned out right. I wouldn’t have minded JLS wining, however, Eoghan did not deserve to be in the semi-final, let alone the final. But well done to Alexandra, the public made the right choice!

I think if We are to be really objective JLS derserved to win tonight, they sang their hearts out in all the 4 songs they sang today all were absolutely wonderful,No taking anything away from Alexandra but I think she goofed in thr silent night and Beyounce Charm really carried her far inn the duet.. anyway I guess JLS aree absolutely gallant in defeat.

Though i liked alex, i was hoping for JLS to win tonight, the guys really sang their hearts out. LOUI, i hope you do not let those gentlemen down. JLS u r 4 out of many stars and you know what? i am really glad that you all came this far. Well done guys..

I want to be sick – when did this site become an Alexandra Burke fan-page, biased much!? Absolutely devestated with the result, love the JLS boys and there performances tonight, and throughout the competition have been stella! Cant believe that they’re handing over the record deal to a leona lewis tribute act when we need a new young band like JLS!

Alex well deserved the win. I don’t normally watch these type of shows So this year I decided along with my wife to follow the show from the auditions to the final. Whilst some of the people we liked fell by the wayside (Ruth and Laura) it was Alex who impressed time and time again.
We found JLS to be a bit too full of themselves and in contrast Alex was humble and grateful. On the night of the final I was a bit disappointed that the only new contribution was a Christmas song but Alex delivered a very beautiful rendition of Silent Night that actually gave a right focus to what Christmas is all about rather than the nonsense of ‘Last Christmas’ and ‘I Wish it Could Be Christmas’.

The duets with Westlife and Boyzone were quite tame and man what a shocker when Beyonce Knowles stepped out to sing with Alex. I think that performance set her up for the win.

When it all came down to the wire though it was really who could sing ‘Hallelujah’ the best. JLS had no chance of making this an amazing version and they did it ok but it was not full of emotion at all. So when Alex began I knew straight away that she would win. It was passionate and actually demonstrated what a great voice she has. The Quigg and JLS might go on and have a career but Alex will find herself up there with the likes of Leona Lewis in no time.

    Well done to her.

JLS fans are of course disappointed but if Shaun thinks that Alex is just a Leona tribute then what on earth are JLS? They are the cookie cutter boy band that are churned out again and again who have a few hits and then fade into oblivion.

They are already making bucks with all their merch but no matter how pretty it all looks you can never get past the fact that they are just another Westlife/Take That/Boyzone wannabe group! It’s tough to follow those kind of acts but give it a couple of years and we won’t even remember them because some other clone has taken the stage!

  9. jase says:

Really glad she won. I would have also like JLS to win, but only one could win. I’m glad Alex won! She deserved it. To think she didn’t even get to the live show three years ago and here she is the winner of X-Factor 2008! Good job!

  10. eric says:

JLS are definitely far more original than Alexandra – to compare them with westlife/boyzone is a sloppy connection to say the least, merely based upon the fact that they’re all boy bands – their sound is different.Cant help but think that Alexandras votes were given a helping hand by the presence of Beyonce – similar to the Leon/Kylie situation – and look where he ended up. I really hope to see JLS following through with a music career ‘cos they are a very talented band.

  11. CJ Archer says:

JLS deserved to win, their performance of the winners song was so much better. Theres too many singers out there like Alexandra, JLS are unique and new. They will still make it big as Alex disappears for the next year

  12. DJ says:

I was dissapointed that JLS didn’t win, but I am happy for Alexandra. While I think Alexandra is great, she does have a lot of competition out, there’s no one like JLS. JLS are a young modern pop/r&b group, there’s no one out like them, therefore I think they will become really successful in their careers.

  13. Jo says:

anyone who says that alex is not original and calling her another leona is very wrong. whilst their singing influences may be similar, (mariah carey, whitney houston ect)their voices are totally different! alex’s voice is more soulful and ideal for tender ballads, yes there wll be competition with other r’n'b females i think that alex will hold her own with her deep soulful voice. i only hope that her material is good enough for her

  14. Shane says:

IM GLAD SHE WON BECAUSE I DIDNT WANT JLS TO WIN THEY SUCK SO BAD LOL EWW; SEAHAMMMM(:
