Alexandra Burke will be moving away from the dance tracks on her next album she has revealed and will be going back to her gospel roots.
The X Factor winner is currently working on the follow up album to her second release Heartbreak on Hold, which was released last year, and revealed that the new one will have a ”gospel, spiritual sound.”
The ‘Elephant’ hitmaker has been beavering away on her new material in her home studio in London and then flying back and forward to America to lay down the tracks for her third release. She told Bang Showbiz that she will be using a lot of her personal experiences to inspire her new tracks and insisted that she is ‘digging deep’ for the fresh material
”I don’t know how I got there, it seems like just yesterday that I won ‘The X Factor’, I want to show growth in me as a young woman, and I am at the point where I’m digging deep, deeper than I’ve ever dug before.”
Alex grew up listening to some of the greatest vocalists of all time and she wants to emulate their sound on her new record. She added:
”Back to the people who made music, Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, that gospel, spiritual sound really gets me. And that’s where music comes from. Our generation and people who are younger than me, they don’t really know where music started from, because some of them haven’t been taught that.”
She added: ”I just want to make sure I pay tribute to those who made music what it is today that a lot of people have forgotten about.
Burke has spent this week marking the one year anniversary of one of her all time idols Whitney Houston. She tweeted her followers on Monday saying:
“1 year today we lost you.. RIP Whitney. You are missed xxx”
The brunette beauty added:
“Had to go and see the BodyGuard tonight… Such a tribute to Whitney and keeping her legacy alive. Her music will forever live on..”
Burke also revealed that she will be performing on ITV’s “From The Heart” at 9pm this evening and asked her fans to tune in saying:
“Make sure you guys tune into #FromTheHeart on Wednesday ITV 9pm. X”
