Angie where about in Manchester/London are the auditons’?

  6. kika says:

Hi does any 1 know if u apply for birmingham audition and cant make it there can u go to a different audition in cardiff or manchester.
    thanks

  7. Angie B says:

    Hiya Everyone,

I’ll try answer all your questions-

Sunny- Manchester is Old Trafford. I think London is O2 Arena.

Kika- You can change your mind when you get there just queue in the correct queue.
When you get there they don’t ask you your name or address and have no lists of the auditionees, you just get a number. So it doesn’t matter which city you turn up in. You can audition at any.
You can even try Manchester on Sat 18th and if you don’t get through try Sunday 19th.
They will never know because there’s thousands!

    Hope this helps.
    Good luck.
    Angie

  8. kika says:

  12. CDJ says:

Angie, you are a blessing to people who want to audition. Thank you for posting this. I was at Birmingham and while it was utterly exhausting, it was also a great experience. I got through the first audition and got a no for the second. I know what happened and just hope that things go differently this time and I get a yes both times. It was really a great experience, even with the long, cold wait that I am still recovering from! lol

  13. Angie B says:

    Hi CDJ,

Well done for getting that far! It is a massive achievement getting passed the first round. I’m guessing they only take 300 out of the 200,000 who audition! That’s not even 0.01%!
    So well done! Excellent!
Tell me more…. What time did you arrive at your first audition and what time did you get seen?
    Also what did you sing?

    Thanks
    Angie

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE THIS WEEKEND AT MANCHESTER!! IM GOING SATURDAY!! YIKES!!!

  14. Chloe says:

    Hi Chloe,

You can’t. You just turn up.
See the dates and venues above.

  16. CDJ says:

I arrived at Birmingham Football club at 1:30am. I underestimated how cold it would be and by the time we were taken into the stadium, it was nearly 11am. I stayed on my feet most of the night through the morning with about 1 hour sitting down…but it got too cold to stay seated on the ground. I was probably in the first 100 people to audition, and only number 16 in my section. Out of 16, only 2 got through. I think we had about 10-13K people who eventually showed up. I didn’t think it a great feat to have just made it past the first round until the second day of auditions when I saw how few people were there. I think there were 500-600 people (soloists and groups) from what I could see. Some did their second audition at 8am and some at 10am…so it could have been as many as 1000 people who made it through to the second round.

That second round seemed to be less about competition and more about weeding through those who really stand out in a major way. The truly terrible and the truly mediocre…and also the utterly brilliant. I heard some really “extra average” voices get through. I also saw some unique voices and styles getting through as well.

For the second audition, we were put into groups of 10. Only 2-3 out of 10 made it to the 3rd audition. In my grouping, the two who made it through were both horrible singers, but I bet they were funny. I was utterly gutted, but I thanked the two judges and left the room.

This made me feel a little better: just before I reached the door to open it and exit my audition room, the judges told me it was a really good audition. That made me feel great. Maybe they had reached their quota for my grouping. It didn’t hit me hard until the next day, and I cried myself to sleep.

Question: I know the decision of the judges is final in whatever venue you audition…but are we prohibited from auditioning in the next city? I have never seen anything in the rules that would prohibit it…though I do have to admit that my body is exhausted from all the work we did in the freezing cold weather for so many hours.

Do you think I can try again in the next city? I really believe in what X Factor represents and want to try again…

    CDJ

  17. CDJ says:

Sorry I forgot to mention that I sang “Taking Chances” by Celine Dion. I am going to try something different this time and see what happens….

I’ll update again here after I try Manchester…

I did another TV show in the US, and if the judges gave you a no at any point, you could go and audition in the next city if you chose to do so. I am going to try again this weekend…

    CDJ

  18. kika says:

    Hi CDJ

Can i ask did you sing the same song for round 1 and 2?

Also where abouts in the Queue was you

We arrived at 10.30pm we was on the first corner at the end of line 1, 16th in Queue, Did you hear the guys singing in Queue? i thought they were gr8, Wonder how they did??

    ANGIE B

Hope to see you there Sat at Manchester, We are setting off tonight.

    GOOD LUCK ALL

  19. CDJ says:

I was near the front with those guys. They were fabulous…but they did not really prepare well in their attire or anything like that. I thought they should have gotten through, but they did not. I was in the front as well. Once they “crunched” us all up together, I was in the 1st line as well. I was maybe around 50-60th along with them.

Yeah…they required us to sing the exact same song. I don’t know why they did that as there were no cameras for the very first audition or for the second in those rooms.

I am glad to know I am not the only one trying again….setting off tonight as well. Are we crazy or what?!?! My feet still hurt from last weekend….

  22. Happy says:

I made it through in Manchester. It was really hard, and I was sick, but I think the judges were fair.

  23. Angie B says:

    Hi Happy,

Did you have a blue floral top on with jeans? I was sat next to a woman that was really ill. Was that you?
    Dark brown hair?

    Angie

  24. Angie B says:

    Hi All,

I went to Manchester Saturday. I didn’t get through!
    Not too gutted.
I got there for 7am and got seen for 10am!!!!
    Can you believe it?
I’ll tell you how I did it!!

I saw the massive queue and then I started walking through the barriers. It seemed like miles and miles, so I thought I can’t be bothered walking all that way.
So I saw one of the attendants with the bright yellow vests on, I said to her ‘Is there any way I can avoid walking all that way? I’ve just had a knee operation and can’t walk that far’

So she was really nice and said you see over there where the groups are queuing? Go there, you’ll get seen straight away and they take you in earlier!’

I wasn’t lying- I did have a knee operation in December and i have the scars to prove it! But it HAS healed now!

So I went in the queue with the groups and i was only the 73rd in the queue!

I got my sticker at 8 o clock. We all got taken inside at 8.20! Out of the cold. Then we were all sat INSIDE where there was a roof over our head and a coffee bar! We weren’t outside in the stadium.
I got seen at 10 o clock and had to audition in a nice warm room not out on the pitch.
I got a ‘no’ but I was back to the car at 10.30 and they hadn’t even started letting the main crowd in!

So my advice is take some crutches or have a limp, put a bandage round your ankle!
Or be in a group, coz you are treated like V.I.P’s

ALSO IF YOU FAIL AT ONE AUDITION YOU CAN ALWAYS GO TO ANOTHER TOWN!

  28. Joe Hutley says:

im 14 and i want 2 enter x-factor 2009 really bad have the applications closed now or can u still apply 2 join and wts the minnimum age this year

  29. Anon says:

i was absolutely inspired to the core by last year’s finalists. i applied online but haven’t received my letter yet. i don’t think it’s coming. which might be a good thing because no one in my family knows i was planning on auditioning. it’s not really a traditional aspiration in my culture and also for a muslim and i’m not sure how people would react. i really wish i had the guts to make a choice.

x factor auditions what a joke me and my son just got back from the manchester auditions we were both at the front of the que after getting there very early in the morning we were told the auditions started at 10.am we didnt actually get into the stadium until 10.30-10.45 after what seemed like an eternity when dermot o,leary arrived we had to cheer and clap and dance for about 2 hours then once in the stadium we had to do it again so the auditions didnt actually start while about 12.30-13.0 pm and all for 30 seconds but looking hopefully forward to seeing seeing some of the singers on telly but dermot was lovelyxxxx
