Austin Drage Leaves X Factor 2008
It was a shock result tonight as Austin Drage was voted off X Factor 2008.
Austin ended up in the bottom two with Rachel Hylton and in my opinion completely out sang her in every aspect.
Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue voted to keep Rachel in, for reasons unknown to me, and so Austin is a gonner.
Austin is Simon Cowell’s second act to be voted off the show, he also lost Scott Bruton last week. I bet he is starting to get nervous now, and Eoghan Quigg, Simon’s one remaining act can no doubt expect to get a LOT of attention from now until the final of the show.

I’ll tell you why Austin got voted out – because Rachel (when she hits the right song) is the best singer in the competition (although I want Diana to win). Simon himself said that Rachel was the best singer he had seen in 15 years during bootcamp. Although Austin may have done well on the sing-off the judges new that Rachel has so much more potential, you can look at last weeks performance for an example of that.

No way should Austin have gone, Rachel is good, but all her songs sound the same. Her voice is so distinctive that all songs have the same sound.
Austin has been robbed.

Austin should not have been voted off! I agree with Kris, Rachel is a good singer, But she’s nothing special! All her songs sound the same, she just sounds like evvvvvveryone else. Austin has an amazing voice. He out-sung Rachel by far…She’s robbed him off his chance for definate.
I pray someone offers him a record deal though, he can’t put a voice that amazing to waste!
I personally think votes are rigged. It MUST be a set up.
Rachel doesn’t deserve to be in there, she’s too much of a handful and wouldn’t be able to handle it if she won!…She’d be a one hit wonder like the rest.
I support Austin in everything else he does and hope he goes far!

How can you say Rachel has potential? She was rubbish! Don’t think she’d have survived the public vote. She’s an average singer & only reason she won over Austin was the clever marketing and endless VT’s of her “tough-life”. I’m sick of hearing ppl bleat on about how tough things were and how this is a dream come true. Just shut your gob, sing your heart out and get on with the show. If your good, your in…. if your bad you SHOULD be out.
Diana to win (assuming there’s no further rigging of the comp)

cant belive hes gone best singer on da show and best lukin and luv scott bruton to
louis is just jelos of simon hate youlouis retire plz
hope austin gets a record deal
alexandra or jls to win
November 2nd, 2008 at 12:52 pm
I really can’t believe he is out, i thought he was going to win! But Louis just wanted simon to have 1 act left, otherwise he would have let it go to deadlock.. and then rachel would have been out..
November 2nd, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Totally agree with you Scarlett, the judges need to grow up and pick the potential winner instead of the jelousy and the bitterness they show. We all know louis walsh did that so that simon had one act left. Austin is an amazing singer and sung with passion and gave it his all. (also good looking). I am so upset. I’m sure I speak for most of the british public when I say the judges do not deserve the privelidge of the final decision and it should go to deadlock.
November 2nd, 2008 at 4:23 pm
I was annoyed last week when Louis smiled when he voted off Scott. Scott was the better singer by far and Louis knew that. He just voted him off because he was angry he’d lost two acts and he wanted to get even with simon. You could see him smirking, happy he was ruining it for both of them.
As for this week! I am not watching the XFactor anymore. All the judges bar simon are tone deaf. Rachel is too specialised to sound unique, her voice cant modulate on tone or anything. And she’ll be fogotten pretty quick. Again Louis chose to get rid of one of Simon’s acts. He chose to get rid of one of the favorites.
AUSTIN WAS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST SINGER IN THE COMPETITION.
The girls are good but… Diana will sound the same no matter what she sings. Alexandra isnt unigue enough. and Laura’s style of vocal would give me a big headache if I listened to her full album straight through as I like doing with other artists. She’s amazing but even her song on Saturday gave me a headache and I listen to heavy metal and rock music. It’s not only that, how the hell are you expected to singalong with her.
Theres some amazing talent this year but the best has gone. I won’t be interested in purchasing anyone elses singles or albums, so the competitions over forme this year.
Hope simon comes through on the hints he made that he would offer Austin a contract.
It’s Rhydian allover again, the best singer gets chucked. they just did it earlier this year.

Everything i was thinking after hearing that Austin was voted off today, Emma has expressed for me.
I can just imagine Louis’ face as he was keeping rachel in, and its irritating me.
Louis Walsh needs to go, i cant see how he can give anyone advice, we all know Westlife are successful because of millions of old biddies that would like to look after them and feed them cake.
The rivalry between them annoys me, Louis wants to prove a point with Simon all the time, Simon wants to make money and cause controversy with his ENDLESS similes, “You’re like water…” UGHH.
Dannii minogue wants to be ‘down with the kids’ with all of her irritating phrases, what was it she said the other day? something ‘..box’. God help us when she learns the word ‘Natch’.
And Cheryl Cole, well i was expecting to hate her, but its impossible to feel anything for someone so neutral. She just sits there blinking.
Anyhow, they no longer care about the contestants, its almost like if you dont have a regulation sob story who cares what your dreams are, if you’ve led a happy life then you dont deserve to achieve anything, because showbizness loves adversity.
If Austin had made a bit more about his sexuality and bullying then he may have stood more of a chance next to an ex-druggie with a million children, most in care which suggests enough to me.
I no longer wish to watch it.
Oh yes, Alexandra.
Sometimes, theres such a thing as too perfect.
Can you imagine how bland her album would be, you know, without all of those hand movements to go along with the lyrics?
I can literally see the puppet strings already, that shes tied on herself.
What? You want me to bend over? well ooookkkayy, as long as i get famous. I will get famous, right?
Good luck to Diana, i think she has the most potential.
This is me saying goodbye to the x-factor, because it confuses me.
It wants to be contemporary, but makes the contestants sing out-dated songs.
What the hell was Michael Jackson week? How does that show their talent at all?
And do they have to make them over so much? Whatever foundation they’re using needs to be binned.
Wow, i feel like i needed to let that out.

I agree wholeheartedly – i have just totally lost interest in the X Factor- and i have been glued since day one. It’s not just that Austin has gone – though he has been my absolute favourite since the beginning, it’s just the shabby way certain of the judges seem to be voting. Austin’s talent as both a singer and a performer have never been in doubt by anyone with eyes, ears, intelligence and objectivity – yet he has gone and the likes of Daniel remain. True, he was in the final two because the public didn’t vote for him (why why why??? Makes no sense to me at all – is it just that whole sob story inspired hysterical voting?), but if they were using their own criteria, he should have been saved. Am sick of the Louis/Simon feud that has brought all this about – it’s never been good TV and now it’s interfering in peoples’ careers big time. Am SO going to miss my Saturday night fix, but, frankly, I couldn’t give a toss who wins now – Diana’s fabulous, but she’s got her career up and running anyway – as has Austin – make no mistake. In fact, I half hope Daniel wins, has five minutes in the sunshine and then retires to open fetes, just so someone, at some point, will do away with the whole ‘ahh, poor them, let’s vote for them’ rubbish, and make it a talent contest again…

I agree with Kris, Lizzy & JB. I feel Austin was much better. I think they are trying to be a bit too Politically Correct keeping Rachel in, harping on about her tough past. I appreciate that she wants better for herself but surely all this time away from her other kids isn’t doing them much good. I wonder if this is her being selfish?? I hope she will be there to watch them in their Christmas plays. Also feel similar about Daniel. Lets face it he is also there because of his sad story not his great singing and I wouldn’t take losing a loved one lightly but I feel he should be there for his daughter and in an industry like this he won’t be able to do that. I do however wish Diana the best of luck, she has an amazingly distinctive voice and at 43yrs old I would definately buy her music!!
November 2nd, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Austin blended into the crowd – that’s why he was in the bottom two. Sure, he had a pretty good voice but it’s by no means a unique voice and he’s the kind of person who would disappear in an instant – Shayne Ward style.
November 2nd, 2008 at 11:06 pm
It’s a joke that Austin left over Daniel, and then over Rachel- she’s just arrogant and disgusting. Her voice just grates over me, she’s not even remotely nice to listen too. Austin was clearly the best in the competition, thought he was going to win the whole thing. I would like to see Ruth win now- “VIVA RUTH!”
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:47 am
Completely agree with Emma, Micheala and Paul! Austin is so much better off out of X Factor he’s the most amazing singer he will do so much better than any of the other contestants especially Rachel with her bad attitude and arrogance! Everyone Loves you Austin!
November 3rd, 2008 at 12:35 pm
I totally agree with Emma, Austin shouldn’t have gone, he was the best.
They should so replace Louis Walsh next year, he’s an idiot and Westlife are rubbish anyway. If Austin was in someone else group or if he was irish Louis would have saved him. He’s completely biased. Rachel isn’t consistent at all, she’s performed on song well in five and she should have gone ages ago.
Q12, Austin wouldn’t disappear, Rachel would never do well she’d be the one to do the ‘Shayne Ward’disappearance. So would Daniel. Alexandras got a good voice but it’s like a not as good Leona Lewis voice.

austin rocked and is defenitly gonna get a record deal he trained at mi nans dance skool ridgeway studios and is brilliant, he has been scince he started at ridgeway when he was 8yrs old, if you saw the vidios you would agree with me. theres one vid of him when he was 11 and was doing a dance he was a great free styler. y diddnt he get to do a dance aswell as sing? he should of done his break dancing. rigeway say haii and are all sad that you diddnt get threw and DANIAL should of gone ages ago he sucks and jls and eogan quigg. rachal just sounds exactly the same in every1 of her songs and should be out i think that austin should of been saved and last week he done an exalent performance and mi nan always said he worked well with the audiance and he proved that last week. this week when he rang mi nan he told her he diddnt like the song he was performing and simon diddnt let him change it i dont think that was fair as he had the slowest song but if he did more of a discoish song he would of stayed in and that danial would of gone as he should of a long time ago. the x-factor came down to film rigeway to be put on the x-tra factor but we diddnt get shown as he was voted off i think every1 should ring up and complain to ITV1 and if u think they miss counted the votes complain and they mite get him back in the show (i hope) see u soon austin hope u will come down to ridgeway again luv ya luv katy walker age 12

Austin is an undeniable rare talent and I think if Simon gives him a contract and allows him to do his own thing he will go far. He is the one X factor contestant that I looked forward to seeing week after week, and not only was I never diappointed but I was blown away every time by his passion and raw talent. He was born to do this. I dont know what Louis and Cheryl were talking about when they said 1.He didnt connect with the public and, 2. He didnt sing with emotion. I think he sings every word ike he means it and coped brilliantly with whatever song was thrown at him week after week, unlike others like Rachel, etc. As for him not comnnecting with the public, well the well publicised public uproar and outrage at Austin being voted out speaks for itself!
Austin should at the very least have made it to the top 3. So many people, on this and other sites have said that when they tried to vote in for Austin they couldnt get through and when they finally did then it registered as a vote for someone else! There is definitely something suspicious going on there, Im not saying it is some sort of ITV conspiracy, but perhaps just a computer fault? It has happened before on other voting shows! His performances have been consistently original and phenomenal, proving his talent and his versatility. His performance of Billie-Jean was OUTSTANDING. Better than Chris Cornell and David Cooke from American Idol (I have done my research, lol). Everyone I know thought so, and yet Louis ripped him to shreds talking about the arrangement! Clearly Louis doesnt know what he is talking about and it was just a chance for him to have a dig at Simons contestant. Austin also comes across as such a down-to-earth and sweet gentleman. Without a doubt, the most talented male ever to enter any of these competitions. He is also a musician and a songwriter, unlike many other stars who have made it big simply by standing in front of a mic and singing other peoples songs. Check out clips from some of his band’s live gigs on youtube – very soulful. If Simon has any sense he should give Austin a contract. Im sure he will come up with some brilliant songs if given the chance and not cheesy pop songs, but something with more of an edge. Failing that he should be brought back to the programme, and not be forced out because of faulty phone lines, sympathy votes for other contestants by the public, and tactical voting by the judges who see him as a threat! They should seriously get over themselves and their rivalry and realise they are crushing a genuinely gifted young man’s dreams!
Diana is over-rated and annoying, and I cannot understand the words of the songs when Laura sings. Alexandra is our only hope now! Good luck Alex! Much love to Austin, best of luck in the future, you deserve only good things to come to you and plenty of success. P.S. Saw you in Snatch, loved your Irish accent, was so cute! Sorry we cant vote from the Republic of Ireland but just want you to know IRELAND LOVES YOU BABE!

It’s terrible that Austin’s been sent home! I mean, come on, Rachel can sing but fails every week (except for big band) and can only sing a certain type of song. Austin’s never disappointed and to know that people like Daniel are still in the competition and Austin’s gone is disgraceful! I hope to he makes an album sometime cos I would definitely buy it! GO AUSTIN! x

HI there, if you all go to the Austin petition, there on number 7012 – there is a journalist who wants to make a case if there are enough people to state that they had problems getting through to Austins number to Vote – or if they did it redirected them to Dianas vote… He wants you to contact him….

Austin should never have been in the bottom two never mind voted off!
people like daniel and owen and rachel have robbed him of his place in the shower
People should stop voting because of sympathy!
Singers become role models for children and would you really want your child to look ut to Rachel?
I dont know how they could say she had more potential she was only good on her first audition and she had more than enough chances to prove us wrong but she didnt!
hope austin does well for himself as i wouldnt def buy anything he bought out!
