Upon entering her bootcamp destination of Cafe de Paris Sharon commented that the holding room for all the contestants looked like the “bar out of Star Wars!”. And she did have some weird ones! An 82 year old grandmother, Justin/e the guy/girl dairy farmer, and Michelle Thorne the porn star and glamour model!

The relief on 34 year old ex goat herder Chico’s face was obvious as he discovered that he had not gotten Simon Cowell as a judge was obvious and he proclaimed “If she [Sharon] choses me we are going to kick Simon’s ass!” And although his first performance of Prince’s ‘Kiss’ was more of a strip routine than a show of vocal talent he managed to impress Sharon enough to make it to the final 21 and finally to the final 7 despite forgetting the words of his final song.

82 year old Dorothy was unphased by the age difference between her and the rest of the contestants and said “I can still show these youngsters a thing or two, even with all their boobs!” She sang a rather high pitched version of The Carpenters ‘Close To You’ and was going home on the next bus.

Dairy Farmer Justin/e appeared beautifully attired and wigged and sang Bette Midlers ‘Wind Beneath my Wings’. When he stumbled over the high note he apologised to Sharon saying ” Its that curry, I shouldn’t have eaten it!”. And after the audition he told Kate he was “not very hopeful at all”. Although he didn’t get through to the next stage I’m sure he will stay in our memory for a long time coming, who could forget the cross dressing, all singing, all dancing farmer!

During her 3 minute interviews with each of the final 21 acts, Sharon got closer to glamour model Michelle Thorne than any of the others. She couldn’t resist groping her breast and asking if her boobs were real. Michelle then went on to forget the words during her performance and although Sharon thought she had a certain charm, the other judges couldn’t see it and she was sent home.
