Britain’s Got Talent 2013: Amanda Holden blasts fake judges’ feuds & says X Factor isn’t ‘family friendly’

Amanda Holden has admitted that very often judges’ spats and rivalry on reality TV shows is faked or exaggerated for the cameras.

The mum of two has judged on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent since it’s inception in 2007 and has seen a variety of fellow panellists come and go from the hit primetime show.

Last year she worked alongside former Strictly Come Dancing star Alesha Dixon and revealed that bosses tried to create a fake tension between them to make the whole series a bit more dramatic and help it gain column inches as it went head to head with The Voice on BBC, but she was having none of it, as she was aware her daughters may watch the show in the future and she didn’t want them to see her being ‘bitchy.’

Holden told The Daily Record that she took a stand when Alesha joined the BGT panel in 2012 and explained:

“Often the publicity team do it on purpose with these shows. They like to create madness when there isn’t any.

“They tried it last year with Alesha and me, but we just weren’t having it.”

The blonde beauty continued, saying:

“I have girls. I don’t want them ever reading anything like that about me in the press, having bitchy fights with other women.”

Amanda’s decision couldn’t have gone down well with her boss Simon Cowell, who is well known for his love of controversy. He will be less pleased with Holden when he hears what else she’s been saying, as she also slated his other ITV show The X Factor.

The actress just doesn’t see it’s appeal and insisted that it isn’t ‘family friendly’ enough.

She said: “Simon’s told me off before for saying this – but I think it’s very hard to keep judging singer and singer after singer. I don’t see it as a family show. I see it aimed at a certain age group.”

Amanda, Simon, Alesha and David Walliams will be back together today, as the Britain’s Got Talent auditions hit Glasgow for the first time this year.

She’s had a hectic weekend at home and not much rest in the lead up to her busy week and Amanda tweeted last night saying:

“OMG!! Had the best day with my Princesses for their b’day!Totally nuts! Blue champers, snow and cupcakes!Knackered- off now to Glasgow #BGT”

Dixon seems excited to be returning to the bosom of her BGT family and added:

“Off to Glasgow today! Can’t wait! #BGT :) x”

Did she say all that from her heart? Or was it scripted by BGT’s publicity team? Or both?

Maybe this is their way to strengthen the show’s credibility. Funny enough, this IS a controversy about a controversy.

It’s tough to decide what’s fake on TV these days.

She was right. Anyway, whenever I come across a show where people are yelling at each other, fighting etc., I just keep right on channel surfing. I don’t care if it’s fake or not, I’m not watching it.
