Britney Spears left X Factor USA because Simon Cowell refused to give her a pay rise!
Britney Spears announced last week that she was leaving the X Factor USA and ever since rumours have been circulating about the reasons behind her decision.
Some insiders have suggested that the ‘Toxic’ hitmaker jumped before she was pushed, knowing that Fox were about to sack her and replace her on the judging panel anyway. The latest theory is that the mum of two left because bosses refused to give her more money.
So called insiders claim that the singer was demanding a £1.8m pay rise – which would have taken her pay packet for the year from $12 million to $15 million (£11 million) – and that producers ad music mogul Simon Cowell blocked the hike, causing her to resign.
Perez Hilton claims that after the poor ratings achieved by the 2012 series of the show, bosses concluded that Britney wasn’t worth that much cash, because she obviously was not bringing in the viewers. They knew that if they refused her she may walk away and decided to take that risk.
“After much deliberation, they just felt that Britney wasn’t worth that much because she wasn’t bringing enough to the table,” a source said.
“Her performance as a judge was scrutinised, and she didn’t really add anything to the show. They felt she didn’t warrant a $3 million pay hike.”
It’s been a big news month for Spears all round, as in the same week it was confirmed that she was no longer part of The X Factor it also emerged that she has split from fiancé Jason Trawick.
The pair had been set to get married later this year but thankfully it seems they ended on an amicable note and when a fan tweeted Jason this week saying “wishing u tons of success in yrs to come. Can’t thank u enough for all u did for @britneyspears ! Hope u 2 remain gr8 friends”, he replied:
“we will. I can’t image not having her in my life.”
He later tweeted fans saying:
“Thanks for all your kind words. You guys/girls are wonderful. I truly appreciate it.”
