Bye Bye Phillip Magee!

Well it wasn’t unexpected but it’s sad all the same. Tonight we have just said goodbye to Phillip Magee from X Factor 2005.

Phillip is a fellow Irish man (well I’m not a man but you know what I mean!)and I would have loved to see him get further in the contest, but it was obvious from the start that it wasn’t to be. He is talented, but not entirely comfortable on stage. He also has no idea of what the record buying public want to hear…I’ll give you a hint…it’s not ‘Johnny Be Good’

Whoever wins this years X Factor has to be marketable and be able to sing and perform songs that are popular with the public now, not 30 years ago.

Hopefully this isn’t the end for Phillip, he may be able to maintain a successful career locally, but I just don’t see him ever hitting the global stage.

Oh Phillip Why??? But he’ll not be goin’ empty handed. He’ll be asked to press the red button to turn on the Christmas Lights in Larne and perform.

Gemma: Can you say Malachi Cush?

  4. Gemma Bowden says:

Brad: Well my friend Nuala Conlon still luvs Malachi Cush.

  5. brad says:

That’s bizarre, Gemma. I liked Malachi too, but he went into a kind of weird Daniel O’Donnell style that scared the pants off me!! I thought he had a bit more credibility!

  6. tabby says:

Well if you are all that interested you can still catch Malachi Cush regularly on BBC Radio Ulster as he oftens stands in for Hugo Duncan.

Okay, here’s what Phillip should’ve sang.

    Well he sang…
A: Your Cheatin’ Heart (Hank Williams)
BC (D1): To Love Somebody (Bee Gees)
BC (D2): Always On My Mind (ELVIS PRESLEY! – One of Phillip’s hugest fans)
JHV: Don’t Forget To Remember (Another one by Bee Gees)
    LS1: Amazed (Lonestar)
LS2: Wind Beneath My Wings (Bette Midler)
    LS3: Johnny B. Goode (Chuck Berry) – HE’S ELIMINATED!
Okay here are the songs that Phillip really should’ve sang on his exit.
    LS4: Jailhouse Rock (ELVIS AGAIN!)
    LS5: Peggy Sue (Buddy Holly)
LS6: Somewhere Out There (Linda Ronstadt feat. James Ingram)
LS7: Can You Feel The Love Tonight (Elton John)
LS8: Cosmic Girl (Jamiroquai)\Moondance (Van Morrison)
SF: You Needed Me (Boyzone)\Whistle Down The Wind (Tina Arena)
F: Moondance (Van Morrison)\I Believe (Robson & Jerome)\Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (Declan Galbraith)

You’ve obviously put a lot of thought into this Gemma….I just can’t imagine Phillip Magee singing cosmic girl though!
