Chart: Unreality TV ranks The X Factor Contestants in Week 2!

Kitty Brucknell at X Factor auditionsDrumroll, please! Back by popular demand, it’s The Unreality TV X Factor Chart! This is where we rank the contestants and tell you who we think rocked it and who was a massive disappointment. (Our StyleJacking team have also ranked the girls in terms of their fashions!)

Our overall rating of this week’s “Love & Heartbreak” themed X Factor is pretty dismal. Virtually all the performances were marred by tuning issues, and those that weren’t were tedious beyond belief! Seriously, we may need to push through a change in immigration policy to allow some new singers into the UK or next year’s X Factor is going to be, well, worse than this year’s.

So…how did we rank tonight’s performances? Mostly on singing ability. If they stayed in tune (which was rare) we ranked them high. We also ranked based on potential for improvement, potential to actually sell records and just generally being cool.

  1. Kitty BrucknellIt’s Oh So Quiet. What does it mean when the most annoying contestant on The X Factor is also the best singer? Despite the risible video introduction in which Kitty simultaneously hit out at the “H8Rs” and asked you to hashtag #KittysDivas on Twitter, when she hit the stage, she gave – to coin a cliche – 100%. Actually a quite brilliant performance. She’s just frustratingly impossible to like.
  2. Misha BWould I Lie To You Baby. The laugh factor comes from performing a Charles & Eddy song wearing the biggest, most ridiculous shoulder-pads ever put on a costume. Misha takes what can only be described as “artistic liberties” with the melody so it barely bears any resemblance to the original. Still, we appreciate her style. We’re just not sure about her substance.
  3. The RiskJust The Way You Are (Amazing). Finally! Powerful vocals and solid harmonies delivered…in the style of Westlife? WTF? Yes, Tulisa thought it would be cutting edge to put The Risk on stools for their performance tonight. Perhaps not the most exciting performance of the night, but they delivered the best vocals. There’s real potential with these guys. Gary Barlow said “That is what hard work and commitment sounds like.”
  4. RhythmixI’m Like A Bird. Loved what these girls were trying to achieve with a remixed version of the Nelly Furtado classic. Still suffered from tuning problems and jarring harmonies, but there’s a glimmer of potential here that’s missing from many other acts this year.
  5. Janet DevlinCan’t Help Falling In Love. I wanted to love Janet’s performance this week, but don’t think the reworking of a vintage Elvis song particularly suited her tonight. For some reason, it made her unique voice sound laboured and like Craig, it was far too dull.
  6. Sophie HabibisWherever You Will Go. This was an unusual performance, an angsty take on a rather good song. Sophie gave a good vocal performance, but the emotional overload left us feeling slightly depressed. As Gary said, there was a little spark missing from the performance, and we can’t quite see her as a fully-fledged popstar.
  7. Sami BrooksI Will Always Love You. Boring, dull song choice. On the plus side, she played with the melody a little bit, showing she can think for herself. And we know how much The X Factor loves independent thinkers, don’t we? For the most part, a solid vocal performance, marred by a couple of wobbles. And OMG, what were the stylists thinking?
  8. Marcus CollinsRussian Roulette. An incredibly flat rendition of one of Rihanna’s moodiest songs. Although Gary said Marcus had stepped out of the shadows, we still think he’s got to prove that he has any star power at all. Uninspiring.
  9. Craig ColtonBest Thing I Never Had. Fair play to Craig for tackling a spanking new Beyonce song, but the guy just didn’t have the voice to carry the song, did he? And his stage presence strategy this week was “Stand In One Spot For The Entire Song”. Inspired.
  10. Johnny RobinsonCan’t Get You Out Of My Head. Does this dude have no dignity? He comes on singing a Kylie Minogue song dressed as a geisha! And unlike the powerful voice I’d expected to hear, he’s singing like he’s drunk on helium. Or he’s the fourth member of The Chipmunks. Johnny wins extra points for telling Gary Barlow “You can rub my lamp any time, Gary!”
  11. Nu VibeWith Or Without You. Sounding every bit like five guys singing the same song in adjacent karaoke bars, Nu Vibe got saddled with a dance version of the U2 classic that came together. In the end. P.S. Are light-up podiums the 21st Century answer to Westlife’s stools?
  12. Frankie CocozzaThe Scientist. Ready for a harsh truth, X Fans? Frankie can’t sing. He can’t. Truth be told, his continued presence on The X Factor is more of an embarrassment to the show than Johnny Robinson. Teenage girls, have a cold shower and stop voting for this fuzzy-headed muppet.

So there you have it, our very personal take on tonight’s X Factor. We reckon Kitty Brucknell was the best thing to hit the stage tonight, but we’ll add a word of caution: we don’t think she can sell records. Ultimately, the X Factor might have to find a way to ditch her. Because as Kelly Rowland said, she’s got to make people love her, and as talented as she is, she’s a total drama queen and people aren’t warming to her.

Our question to you is – is there anyone on this list that you can imagine becoming a popstar and selling oodles of records?

I think Misha B could be the next big thing.

  2. Gavin says:

Kitty in no way was the best performance I’d have had her 4th Janet for me was 2nd only just behind Misha in 1st but Misha ain’t doing herself any favours with her diva behaviour it could come back to haunt her

  3. Xfan says:

Janet Devlin, is the only one with a shot at this moment to winning.

  4. RB says:

Kitty number one? Seriously? I think this is a case of “she’s not as bad as everyone’s saying she is!”

    1. Misha- she looks/sounds/acts like a star, unlike the others who look like they’re trying to be a star.
    2. Sophie- great voice, but I agree with Gary that she needs a spark.
    3. Janet- not my cup of tea, but undeniably good.
    4. Sami- again agree with Gary that it was a bad song choice, but bloomin’ great set of lungs she has.
    5. Rhythmix- pretty decent, the best group so far
    6. The Risk- utterly bland, but decent. They’re not gonna be the next big boyband despite what the judges may say.
    7. Craig- disappointing week, but he’s safe. Usually he would be much higher up on the list.
    8. Kitty- good voice, but stupid theatrics and the girl is about as likeable as a cold
    9. Marcus- like Craig he would usually be much higher up the list, but he was just flat tonight.
    10. Nu Vibe- who? Their judges house audition was priceless, but the XFactor team have made them bland and its clear they wont last after the competition if they aren’t getting on
    11. Johnny- again, Gary is the wise one here. Louis Walsh (who needs to go asap) has made this guy a joke. Shame, but when Goldie left he needed a backup
    12. Frankie- yeah…the kid can’t sing. He’s weezed his way through every song.

  5. MtlToDub says:

Thank you for recognising Frankie’s complete lack of musical ability!

  6. Nuperez says:

Misha was the best, sorry guys.

  7. carlos says:

they need to give sophie the right songs, if she smashed everything the way she did teenage dream in week 1 she’d have the best performance every week. she did a great job this week too but wherever you will go i dont think was the best song choice. she should do 1000 miles vanessa carlton or if thats too played out maxwell this womans work her own versions

  8. karmaqueen says:

frankie is awfull and does not deserve to be on the show, sophie its the one to watch her voice is haunting, i want the final 3 to be sophie johnny and craig, but i think if people realise how amazing sophies voice is it will be sophie janet and micha, please please get rid of frankie vote him off hes an insult to xfactor specially when someone who has an amazing voice can be brought to judges houses twice and not get onto live shows

  9. Joanne Moore says:

I thought X Factor was really good last night Rhythmix where amazing as always last night singing I Am Like A Bird it was so stunning and they made it their own. Sami Brooks and Janet Davlin where amazing last night Sami Brooks singing I Will Always Love You was gorgeous and Janet’s performance I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You was super gorgeous and it gave me goosebumps and sent shivers down my spine. The Risk singing Just The Way You Are was simply amazing, Johnny Robinson bless him he is so cute and so funny when he sung Kylie’s song Can’t Get You Out Of My Head it was really good and very funny. Kitty last night was fantastic singing Bjork’s classic Oh So Quiet she was brilliant she sung much better than last week. I am not to keen on Nu Vibe and Frankie . Misha B was fantastic last night on X Factor as she always is when she sung Would I Lie To You it sounded amazing and fresh. I am backing them all to win except for Frankie, Nu Vibe and Kitty I was so shocked when Kitty got booed last Sunday on X Factor i thought that was harsh and a bit mean for some of the audience to do that.

  10. Nuperez says:

I´m totaly agree with you guys.

  11. daniel84 says:

SOPHIE.. NOT SURE ABOUT THE SONG CHOICE BUT HER VOICE GAVE ME CHILLS !!!HOPE SHE GOES FAR!

  12. AlouettaRodrigues says:

Bad song choices for Sophie, Craig and Marcus…shame. Kelly is probably deliberately giving Sophie bad songs so Misha or Janet will win and Gary’s giving Craig and Marcus bad songs so frankie will win.

I like Misha and Janet, but I hate Frankie. He can’t even sing, and to be honest “lock up your daughters” isnt true because i cant stand him and neither can all my cousins and nieces and friends. He’s just a muppet with stupid hair that looks like a one direction member.

Misha was the strongest tonight. I want her or Janet to win, or maybe Sophie, who is a dark horse. Craig and Marcus are good too. I’m sick of boybands, so I wont even talk about the Risk, no matter how good they are.

  13. Lucy says:

How can you put Janet at 5th when hers was the only performance to make me sit upright in my seat with tingles all over my body? Kitty was great but not number 1 for me.

  14. Dan Carney says:

Carolynne thought Kitty sang best on Saturday
