Cheryl Cole is reportedly refusing to see her estranged husband Ashley Cole.

The pair are in the middle of divorce proceedings but Ashley is said to be keen to visit his wife, who is recovering from malaria.

A source told The News Of The World: “The simple fact is Cheryl doesn’t want to see Ashley. Given everything she’s been through it just wouldn’t be a good idea. Obviously it’s hard for her and there’s a part of her [that] would like to see him. They were married for years after all and she was madly in love.

“But everyone around her, especially her mum and close friends, think seeing him would end up being a bad thing. She’s still incredibly fragile and doesn’t need that sort of potentially traumatic experience.”

The Chelsea star is also said to be furious that Derek Hough has taken up residence in his and Cheryl’s Surrey mansion.

The source added: “There’s no way Cheryl would even entertain the thought of Ashley deciding who she lets stay.

“The end to the marriage was completely his fault. It’s not what she wanted. Derek has been so good to her and she’s needed him there.

“It’s a very bitter pill for [Ashley]. The Derek situation just makes the humiliation so much worse. Derek can’t stand what Ashley did to Cheryl. He saw the distress he left her in. There’s no love lost.”
