Coldplay claimed they would never perform on The X Factor – where does that leave Janet Devlin?
It was reported yesterday that X Factor bosses had signed Coldplay to perform on the upcoming X Factor final.
Insiders said that Gary Barlow had talked his pal Chris Martin into duetting with Janet Devlin if she reaches the series finale next month. The pair are said to have made the agreement last week, when Coldplay played at Children In Need Rocks, which was organised by the Take That star.
However, back in October Chris had claimed that his band could never appear on the ITV show, because he felt they were too ‘different, and far too old.’
Speaking at a press conference in Madrid, he told reporters:
“We all love The X Factor and enjoy the show but we can’t go on it.”
Martin added:
“We do something different and we’re far too old.”
The singer admitted that he and his bandmates do watch the show and even got very enthusiastic about one of it’s contestants a few years ago. He laughed:
“We were very behind that girl Stacey Solomon. But no, we could never appear on the show.”
So either Gary Barlow has been very persuasive and convinced Chris to change his mind, or the whole rumour was completely fabricated….what do you think? Do you think Coldplay should do the X Factor and if not, who would you book to sing with Janet Devlin?

I guess it’s all ’bout the money
Pay them, and they’ll come.
I’d love to see Coldplay on the x factor. But they should perform with Gary on the finale not the contestants. LOL! I know Chris really admires and respects Gary but it seems very unlikely.
it was all back in october we are 100% sure if the daily star was lieing or not. it’s all Hearsay at this point
i meant not 100% sure if it’s true or not
