First it was Justin Bieber, then it was The Wanted and now Conor Maynard has jumped on the band wagon and admitted that he too would like to collaborate with One Direction.
The 19 year old Brighton singer looks set to be one of the big British stars of 2012, but he’d like a piece of the 1D magic and during a recent interview admitted that he would love to record a song with the X Factor stars.
Speaking on Free Radio, the “Can’t Say No” hitmaker said:
“Watching One Direction blowing up in America was insane. I was actually in America when that all happened. That was crazy.”
Conor claimed he has a lot in common with the boyband and thinks they would work well together, as they have collaborated with many of the same writers and producers in the past.
“They’ve done so well. I remember when I was starting, I was in with all the producers at the same time as they were. We worked with a lot of the same people on our albums.”
“A collaboration could be a cool thing to do. I don’t know what kinda song we’d both go on at the same time, it would have to be very cool.”
Maynard rose to success in 2012 when he was nominated for, and subsequently won, MTV’s Brand New for 2012 award. His debut single, “Can’t Say No”, was released in the United Kingdom on 15 April 2012 and it’s official video on Youtube has already surpassed four million views.
However, while many music stars are desperate to work with Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan, American singer Madonna has admitted that she has no idea who the boys are.
Speaking on ITV1′s Daybreak, she admitted that she had never heard of the band, laughing:
“That’s a pop group, right? Sorry, I haven’t seen them yet, no, sorry. Slap my hand.”
Where has she been living for the last few months?
Conor may have a bit of a wait, if he wants to hit the studio with 1D. They are currently in Australia for their tour Down Under and will move on to New Zealand this weekend.
After that, they will return to the UK for a short time, before heading back to America for their firs US arena tour.
