X Factor 2013: Dancing On Ice’s Shayne Ward wants to be a Judge and says he will be as big as Cheryl Cole!
Former X Factor winner, and current Dancing On Ice contestant, Shayne Ward, has revealed that he would like to be a judge on the X Factor.
Fans of the hit ITV reality talent show will know how back in 2005 Shayne, mentored by X Factor veteran Louis Walsh, steamed through to the final without ever being in the bottom two to beat bin man Andy Abraham in the grand final.
After that he went on to release two successful albums beating many popular artists of the time in chart position but, after his third album failed to reach the top ten upon release, he was dropped by Simon Cowell’s music label, Syco.
With his pop career seemingly behind him Shayne, who is engaged to Trollied star Faye McKeever, then toured the country playing Sherrie’s Father Stacee Jaxx in the hit West End production of Rock Of Ages.
Now Shayne is finally back on our prime time TV screens skating with Maria Filippov on Dancing On Ice, and his still heaving fan base couldn’t be happier about it, but after Dancing On Ice has finished, what better way to keep him there but to give him one of the judging seats on the show that launched his career, The X Factor?
Shayne certainly seems up for the idea telling the Sun newspaper he would be a great asset to the show, and that he would be as popular as Cheryl Cole:
“When Cheryl joined X Factor lots of people said, ‘Why is she on it?’ But she had a right to be there. She went through a talent show.
“Like Cheryl, I went on the show, competed, I won and I have a valuable opinion.
“That is why she was so great on the show — because people knew she had a right to say what she said.”
Going on to reveal the rest of his ideal X Factor panel, Shayne mused that it should definitely include Sharon Osbourne, who recently revealed that she would love a return to the show and even urged her followers on social networking site, Twitter, to campaign to get Simon Cowell to rehire her!
Shayne said: “Bring me and Sharon back — we’ll just be flirting all the time.
“I do miss Sharon. When I did the show people were just waiting for our banter.”
Auditions for this year’s X Factor will start in the spring.
