Dannii Minogue says Whitney Houston’s voice ‘isn’t what it was’

X Factor judge Dannii Minogue has admitted that she was disappointed by Whitney Houston’s comeback performance, on the show last week.

Even though the audience gave Whitney a standing ovation at the end of her song, Dannii wasn’t impressed at all.

“It is beyond crazy,” she told The News Of The World.

“The first Google alert I had the morning after was: ‘Houston! We Have A Problem! Her dress came undone and she was kind of tripping over it. And to be honest her voice just isn’t what it was.”

Dannii also questioned Whitney’s behaviour when she was interviewed by Dermot O’Leary.

She laughed: “So Dermot says, ‘Whitney how are you feeling? Obviously you’ve been mentoring the 11 acts this week, how do you feel about that?’

“Then there was this huge pause and she looked down at her feet and she’s kind of fumbling around. She’s like, ‘ah, hang on, let me get this right, I don’t want to muck this up here.’”

ummmmm look whos talking? when is the last time Danni Minogue had a hit? at least Whitneys album was No 3….and whitney singing at %50 is better than Danni singing at %100

  2. Jenner says:

    Who is Danni Minogue??

  3. Tony says:

Who cares what Danni “talentless” Minogue has to say about a living legend like Whitney Houston. Based on one performance Danni is going to come out with a statement like that. Why didn’t she say that about Britney Spears who didn’t even attempt to sing live? Besides, Whitney more than redeemed herself on the Italian X-Factor 3 nights later, so Danni can shut her “botoxed to the hilt” gob!

  4. j says:

danni is right for what she has said, whitney was off her head on the xfactor, whitney is a brilliant singer but she was not that good on the xfactor, and what danni has said is only what most of the people in the UK have been thinking.
Danni minogue is the singer who has had 11 club hit number ones, she has a right to say what she thinks when being interviewed.
and for the people that say who is Danni minogue, just ask your self have i had any number ones or even had a song released. DONT THINK SO!!!

  5. j says:

sorry shes had 12 club hit number ones which has given her the name queen of clubs

  6. Josef says:

J……ummmmm we arent recording artists so unfortunately havent had 12 clum hit number ones… however… i bet you i can sing better than Danni “flat as a pancake” Minogue ever could….. and yoeah I am a good singer…and yeah Dani Minogue used so much studio trickery in her songs that it aint even her singing it is the computers! whitney’s vocals were great on the X factor…she might have had a bad interview but her singing was great! as for Danni Minogue….she can do one! lol

  7. Tony says:

J Says, you don’t know what “most” of the people in the UK have been thinking about Whitney’s performance because there’s no way you’ve polled the majority of the 14.8 million people who watched the show. Most people I know are wondering what all the fuss in the press is about, not to mention some callers on radio shows, like LBC, have been very protective of Whitney’s appearance. You’ve also jumped to a conclusion that Whitney was off her head – that’s an assumption, not a fact. Is it not more likely that if a woman’s bra strap snaps in front of 14.8 million people on live television, that it might be her dominant thought? Finally, Danni may indeed be known as Queen of Clubs, but the fact is the word “Talent” has never been synonymous with her name, unlike Whitney who’s always been seen to exemplfy it. So for Danni to call it “beyond crazy” is ridiculous when it’s “beyond crazy” that Danni even had a career in the first place. Almost any X-Factor reject with the right music-makers could duplicate Danni’s career, whilst Whitney’s career is still unsurpassable.

  8. j says:

never said that whitney was bad did i? i said she was brilliant.
and whitneys singing on the night well i dont think it was great, she onli sang little bits of the song, and danni has had musical trickery on some songs but not all of them. if you can sing better than danni you should do something with your voice instead of calling people

  9. Sarah says:

ROFL!!! Dannii WHO?????? B*tch needs to watch her mouth! LOL.

  10. Ronald says:

Whitney is far sublime to pay attention to this crap. All that matters is that her album is selling well worldwide.

  11. On Pont says:

When is the last time this Dannii beeyatch had a #1 hit on Billboard charts where it really counts? Nuff said. Whitney has 24 #1 hits across Billboard with MDB hitting #1 on Billboard charts this week. Hmm, quick glance shows Minogue nowhere in sight – ever. Only time I’ve heard of Dannii was being the ex-gf of F1 driver Jacques Villaneuve a few years back. Sister of Kylie Minogue was how the announcer said it, LOL. In other words her career is irrelevant even to know who she is without reference to her older sibling. Whitney’s xfactor Italy performance outranks Cole’s performance any day. Janet has no worries about her dancing ability. The truth!!

  12. angel695 says:

    danny minogue, plea

  13. Sugar Rush says:

Danni could never match Whitney’s success even if she did a deal with the devil. No on cares what she thinks and i seriously doubt Whitney is gonna be loosing sleep over this nobody..

  14. Jeremy Banda says:

Ah bless! Even if Whitney had as much botox done as that relative of Kylie Minogue’s, she’d still be a miles better singer and performer. I wonder how many albums compared to Whitney as that sister of Kylie sold? Sometimes people need to learn to shut up and not turn themselves into laughing stocks. I just fall off my chair thinking that that sister of Kylie’s would have the nerve to say such a thing. If anybody is on something I think it is Mr and Mrs Minogue’s other daughter.

  15. angie says:

canta mejor whitney despues de todo lo pasado y a su edad que otras de 20-30 (britney, amy , etc )

  16. bentastic says:

freaken danni whatever, trying to be like her sister Kylie!!!
Danni has not even achieved a fraction of what Whitney has achieved! She needs to stay shut and get a life!

  17. wilson says:

Who is she and where did she come from, just sit back and learn from a pro.

  18. Alby says:

Being an X Factor judge, Dannii is very UNPROFESSIONAL in criticizing Whitney the way she did. If a guest comes to your show and performs, you do not go around throwing negative remarks about that person even if don’t like it – which only reflects badly on herself! Dannii said she wasn’t impressed at all but why did she even bother to give a standing ovation? Was it peer pressure? It shows another thing – she is a HYPOCRITE! Whitney’s voice was strong and gave an excellent performance despite the mishappening which distracted her. All I can think of is some people who have achieved little are jealous and would take every opportunity to put Whitney down. with such unprofessionalism and bad attitude, now I even question her credibility as a judge or was she put there just to look pretty? If we’re talking about real vocal quality and skills, Danni, you have none compared to Whitney (even on her bad days)… so SHAME ON YOU!!

  19. Nicholas says:

All these hearsay and accusing Whitney of tripping all over is acceptable if it comes from the tabloid..It is so unprofessional for Dannii to call another fellow singer in such a derogatory manner. I think Whitney was fantastic and she was merely catching her breath before speaking to Dermot. Give our “not young anymore” diva a break as she was prancing and dancing on stage throughout the entire song. And Dannii all I can say is that you are THE BITCH!

  20. eva m says:

Please Dannii speaks the truth. Whitneys “comeback” performances are laughable. She repeatedly makes a fool of herself each time she walks onto a stage. All she did was play ring around the rosie and yell “oh’s” to the audience. Not to mention that she was DRUNK when the host asked her the simplest of questions!

  21. Tony says:

DRUNK? Eva m, you’re an idiot! Whitney’s had one of the top selling albums this year because her comeback performances on Oprah, Wetten Dass in Germany and X-Factor in Italy were SUPERB! When it comes to “Talent”, Danni Minogue is NOTHING! Danni’s so called ‘music career’ was based on ‘Autotune’ and ‘Studio Trickery’. I saw Danni Minogue perform at G-A-Y once and witnessed her lip-synch her way through an entire song set, it was embarrassing! So she’s barely qualified to comment on Whitney Houston who for her entire career has been universally hailed as the world’s greatest vocalist!

  22. Shawakatima says:

I don’t know who Danni is, but she’s telling the truth. Whitney’s voice is not only different, but much weaker than what it use to be. I can accept it and her for what she is, as she has given us so much already. However, the truth shall set you free.

  23. andy says:

i agree with eva whitneys performance was not the best, she did look drunk, and she was acting really strange, everybody has an opinon and therefore danni only said what alot of people have been thinking, love them both anyway

  24. Oliver says:

Danni is a hypocrite! I watched whitney’s performance and saw danni jump to her feet to give whitney a standing ovation, pumping her fist in the air as a salute to whitney, only to slag her off in the papers several days later. Not only is that remarkably two-faced, but it’s highly unprofessional as a judge on the show to publicly criticise a megastar guest who helped give your show its best viewership ratings ever. Discretion Danni, discretion!!!

  25. samantha says:

everyones entitled to an opinion .. so stop getting wide when it comes to what dannii has to say eh people ?

  26. neil says:

Dannii is a bit cheeky…if you watch the x factor youtube clip she stands up, applaudes and claps hands in air after whitneys performance at the end of song…hardly a sign of someone who was disappointed in a performance…its more marked than cheryls applause of whitney.. dannii would be better not being a back stabber…although it is clear from interview whitney does still have some problems to sort ! love the new song though!

  27. barbara says:

i love Danni me, everyone is right to an opinion, i was very disappointed with whitney, i love her but i was did not think much of her performance

  28. samantha says:

and anyways, lets not forget its the newspaper !? they make up the biggest load of crap possible ! i mean she said ‘it is beyond crazy’ – she could of been talking about anything !

  29. Scott says:

Okay to be honest, ‘News of the World’ should have told you everything you needed to know here. Hardly a credible newspaper to be getting so worked up over what someone has ‘Reportedly’ said in it.

Also I have grown up listening to whitney Houston, She’s my mums favorite singer as well and as corny as it sounds her music has really helped me and my mum through some tough times. So I love whitney, but even I will agree that the X factor performance was poor and more than a little uncomfortable!

Danni Minogue may not be my cup of tea and I can’t remember many of her hits that I’ve really enjoyed (they certainly aren’t as good as Whitney’s) but I think its unfair to slate her as she has had quite a lot of success in her music career. And to say, ‘Danni could never match Whitney’s success even if she did a deal with the devil’ well whether we like to admit it or not Whitney Houston made a deal with the devil abusing crack cocaine for years, which has undeniably affected her voice. We can only hope practice and further recovery will bring her amazing voice back!

But I think some of you people have to filter what you take seriously from the media a bit closer. Its pretty easy to slate people and get worked up over silly things like this over the internet, would you talk to people like that face to face?
