If the boffins at the Oxford English Dictionary were stuck for a definition for the word ‘sycophantic‘, they should have watched tonights X Factor.

First, we had to watch our favourite bunch of wannabes line up to kiss Celine Dion’s ass. Nothing against Celine, but it’s hard to watch a bunch of people who couldn’t care less about her saying how much they respect her. It’s blatant sucking up, and we’re not sucked in by it.

Worse still, watching a world class singer like Celine Dion heaping praise on a bunch of amateurs was a bit sickening. Come on, she thought they were all great? I would pay Celine’s appearance fee for tonight to hear what she really thought about the contestants. (that doesn’t constitute a legally binding agreement by the way!)

A bit of honesty would be nice for once Simon.

Seriously, we all know that Celine has new material and a tour to promote. You’ve got wannabe’s to promote. It’s a marriage of convenience. We get it.

Talent wise, things on X Factor improved tonight, but watching these people being forced to suck up to celebrities isn’t nice. The best from last year was watching them all pretending to know who Tony Bennett was.
