X Factor hopeful Despina Pilavakis has admitted that she was surprised when the judges seemed so impressed with her audition piece.

Speaking about her performance, she told The X Factor’s official website: “I’ve sung in front of a live audience before but this was completely different. It was a bit scary, but I tried to not think about it.”

She continued: “It went amazing. It went better than expected actually. I was really nervous so I didn’t think it went that well, but the judges seemed to like it.

“When Louis said that it was the best performance of the day, it really shocked me, because I felt like I did well but I just felt I could do so much more – my nerves held me back.”

The North London singer added: “I don’t know what the X Factor is. I just think it’s something different that makes the crowd go wild…The dream is to be a successful artist and to be known worldwide.”
