Did One Direction’s Zayn Malik delete his Twitter account because of Perrie Edwards, is it a PR stunt or is he leaving 1D?
So we just revealed that One Direction star Zayn Malik has deleted his Twitter account.
The hunky singer had more than five million followers on the social networking site but this evening shut his page down, after a rant at his fans.
Zayn has been dating Perrie Edwards since April of this year and fans have been less than welcoming to the Little Mix star. He has received constant abuse, been accused of cheating on the blonde beauty, as well as being told he is fabricating the whole relationship because he’s actually gay.
It seems that the broody performer has had enough and tonight he tweeted:
‘The reason I don’t tweet as much as I use to, is because I’m sick of all the useless opinions and hate that i get daily goodbye twitter.’’
Zayn added:
‘my fans that have something nice to say can tweet me on the one direction account’
And he was gone!
Many Directioners have been lamenting Twitter’s loss this evening but we can’t help wondering if there’s something else behind Malik’s decision. Even after he closed down his account, he can reactivate it within thirty days without losing any followers or information and we wouldn’t be at all surprised if that’s what ended up happening.
Just a few hours ago Zayn and Liam both announced – via Twitter incidentally – that they had some big ‘news’ to reveal in a few days time. It’s general consensus that the announcement will involve a release date for their new single, which is expected to hit the shelves in September 2012. Their second album will follow before Christmas.
Leaving Twitter will generate a huge amount of press coverage and that won’t hurt their sales at all.
However, if Zayn is leaving because of all the hate, then we’d be a little bit concerned that he could end up quitting the band next. After all, the teenage singer is already a multi millionaire and just last month, Perez Hilton predicted that he would be the first one to leave, claiming that Zayn was beginning to implode.
He said:
‘I think they will probably all try to go solo, my pick to probably be first to leave the group is Zayn.
He – from what I hear – is the most tempestuous one and Liam is the most sensible one.’

I am a huge Directioner and I really doubt that Zayn would do that to the boys they are like brothers he wouldn’t do that to them I think that is pathetic to even think that because any true Directioner would know that they are like brothers and he wouldn’t do that but if he does any time soon I apologize but I don’t think he will he loves them too much

personally i think he was just a little frustrated with the hate, but liam and louis both have girlffriends as well so i dont really get that? also i do agree with the fact that it probably is a PR stunt. i dont think he will be going solo though i think it would just cause more uneeded drama in all of their lives and its only been 2 years theyve been together. i give it another year or 2 before they start to talk about breaking up.

Oh god. I’ve been on many websites reading about zayn Malik quitting twitter because of the hate directed towards him about his relationship. So he just left twitter and he is NOT LEAVING 1D. I don’t know why people make up stuff. Quitting twitter and quitting the band are two totally DIFFERENT things. Zayn is one of the most important singers in the band. He, along with Harry and Liam, sings the most in the band. He is one of the most popular too. The screaming gets higher every time he starts singing in the concerts. The hate that he gets on the twitter only makes me think that he is the most cared for. When people care about a person so much, then that person has a lot to deal with. Fans never approved of his relationship with Perrie. This only means that his fans are the most jealous fans who can’t bear to see him close to any girl. Who can blame them? ZAYN’s JUST TOO PERFECT!!!! Even though zayn tweeted least, he still had millions of followers. This just shows how much people love him without him even trying.
