‘Annoying’ Eddie String aka Ed Wilkinson brings the rock to X Factor bootcamp (VIDEO)
Eddie String brought a little bit of the crazy to the X Factor stage this evening.
The handsome rock singer admitted that he wanted to bring something a bit heavier to the ITV show, rather than letting people watch wannabe Adele and Rihanna’s week after week. He certainly was different from the usual hopefuls that sell their wares and thankfully, was definitely more likeable than Frankie Cocozza who some audience members compared him to after his tryout.
The wannabe told Dermot O’Leary that he likes to wear women’s jeans, which is always a conversation starter and then told the judges that he finally felt ‘at home’ on a big stage.
Eddie revealed that his real name is Ed Wilkinson but confessed that he has a bit of a problem with his moniker, so he prefers to stick to his slightly more interesting stage persona.
For his audition piece, String performed The Strokes ‘Last Night’ for the panel, including Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos, Louis Walsh and guest judge for the day Leona Lewis.
His singing may not have been the best we have ever heard, but String definitely had the personality, the swagger and the energy to be a proper rock star. We loved watching him traipse in and out of the audience and interacting with the crowd as if he was already a household name.
Jumping on the judges’ table may have been done to death this series, but it didn’t even seem as if Gary Barlow minded the intrusion, if anything he seemed to be quite enjoying String’s antics.
JUDGES COMMENTS:
Leona: I really enjoyed it, I felt your energy, I couldn’t hear a lot of your vocals.
Tulisa: When you first came on stage I thought it would be more cheese string than Eddie String but I loved it.
Louis: I think you;re a really good entertainer. A little bit of Mika, a little bit of Russell Brand. If you calmed down you could be great.
Gary: The personality thing is on the edge of being annoying, just tone it down one bit but I do think that was really great…full of energy.
Unsurprisingly Eddy String got four yeses and won a place in the next round.
Did you enjoy his performance tonight? Do you think he deserved a place in bootcamp?

You are a moron.
annoying? – not at all. 1 he was on for 2 minutes, 2 hes a kid and 3 he was fun and the song was spot on for him. annoying is a personal judgement…Lisa…maybe find a career where personal judgements are whats needed.
I suspect something else is going on here that prompted the “annoying” article and your right, you dont have a chance
