Eoghan Quigg or Shayne Ward to join Boyzone?

After the untimely and devastating death of Stephen Gately, it seems that fans are eager to get Boyzone back out on the road again. Radio station U105 today suggested, that many are already suggesting possible replacements.
Though I find the whole thing a little distasteful, front runners for the role on a few Boyzone fansites, are said to be former X Factor stars Eoghan Quigg and Shayne Ward.
On the radio show one fan rang in to express her horror at the suggestion. She said:
“Personally I think it’s bad taste. Poor Stephen isn’t even cold in his grave and I just think that no one should be replacing him yet.”

There is no reason to add another person to the band – they are quite capable to perform (if they wish) with their current configuration.
Boyzone do not need a replacement, nobody could ever replace stephen it wouldnt be right he didnt just leave the band like all of the sugababes he has died. Plus take taht never replaced robbie and are doing fine.

How can anyone be suggesting the band replaces Stephen? Stephen can never be replaced and i don’t want them to try. The other four lads all have strong voices and if they decide to continue as a four- piece, they will have 1001% support from me. But for now, let the boyz grieve in peace.

I’m not sure which Boyzone ‘fans’ were spoken to regarding this, but none of those I know would ever speak of a replacement for Stephen. He is irreplacable..
There is NO WAY Stephen could ever be replaced! And trying to would just be SO wrong! No one could ever replace our angel! I am pretty sure that any true Boyzone fan would say HELL NO to Anyone trying to replace him – and also pretty damn sure that Ronan, Keith, Mikey and Shane would not want to either. The band will do fine just as they are – of course it will never be the same without Steo’s beautiful voice… but seriously, no one should ever try to replace Steo. And honestly, talking about that so early after his death is just distasteful and makes we feel sick.

What a ridiculous suggestion! No-one could ever replace Stephen Gately! If the Boyz do carry on it will be just the 4 of them. No Boyzone fans I know would suggest a replacement. And this will be far from the minds of Boyzone at this sad time!
This surely cannot be a serious suggestion! The magic that was Boyzone was created by the chemistry on stage and off between five very special guys. That simply cannot be replaced.Stephen’s tragic death will leave a very big hole in that and the Boyz are truly broken as are the fans. Let us leave them to grieve and remember Steo and celebrate his life before we start trying to fix any thing. I just hope the lads haven’t been asked about this!

This is in very poor taste indeed! There’s NO WAY that any Boyzone fan would ever even SUGGEST a replacement for Stephen, and there’s also NO WAY the boyz would ever even THINK of replacing Stephen, never ever! Stephen is irreplaceable! For anyone to suggest any replacement at all, especially so soon is insensitive to say the least!

I totally agree with what everybody else has said, you cannot replace Stephen end of! I am sure the the rest of the boys wouldn’t want to either!!! Have some consideration for his friends and family, they have just lost a loved one – and yet these stupid ideas keep popping up!

As a Boyzone fan for 15 years, reading this makes my stomach turn. As if in a million years would i have though that 10 days after Stephen leaving us, there is already an article about his “replacement”.
For Gods sake, leave the Boyz alone to grieve for their loss, and have some dignity for the boyz,Stephen’s family, Andrew and the fans.
I think i speak on behalf of fans everywhere when i say, Stephen CANNOT be replaced. He was the centre peice of Boyzone, and whether the lads choose to continue or not, i think its highly disrespectful to release such an obsucre peice of rubbish.

Boyzone would not want to replace Stephen and they do not need to replace him. Stephen was not just a member of a group they are like brothers, they would not get someone else in.

And frankly I’m more concerned with the surviving members’ personal recoveries from this than I am with the band’s. I want THEM to be okay before they decide anything about the future of Boyzone.
Boyzone will never be the same without Stephen. Replacing him could NEVER bring back the spirit and chemistry the band had. And just look at these comments, look at how loved he was. Those would be impossible shoes to fill.

Stephen is irreplaceable and I think if you ask any Boyzone fan then they will say exactly the same as me. Just look at the comments here and you can see how hurtful and ridiculous this suggestion is.
I think I’ve followed the Boyz long enough and know them well enough to safely state that they would agree, did you not see the absolute brokenness of them at the funeral? There is no way they’d bring in some random to try and ‘replace’ Steo.
If they do decide to continue and, whether they do or not I’ll totally support their decision, they will go on as s four piece band, Give the time to grieve before speculating what they’ll do in the future.
Plus, please don’t try and speak for the fans, we all love Steo, always will and know he could never, ever be replaced, both in the band and in our hearts. RIP Steo, we miss you xx

Iam DISGUSTED that this has even been suggested!! In my eyes Stephen could NEVER be replaced.They’res only ONE Stephen Gately!! And IF boyzone WERE to decide to carry on then the four of them would just be fine.

Shane Ward and Eoghan Quigg both have failed solo careers so I can see your way of thinking. However there is no way on earth that the Boyz or the fans would except any replacement for Stephen, and its seems disrespectful to be discussing this.
