Eton Road Leave The X Factor
Tonight saw the last ever X Factor performance of Eton Road.
As soon as the bottom two acts were announced it was obvious that Eton Road were going home. Not only was it their second time in the bottom two, but Simon Cowell loves Ben and gives him nothing but praise from week to week.
Predictably when the final vote fell to Simon he chose Eton Road top go home.
It hopefully isn’t the end for the band though, other than the X Factor winner they are the only act to have been promised a recording deal when the show ends.
Louis Walsh has publicly backed the band and promised that he will get them a recording deal and he will manage the band, with or without Simon Cowell’s help.

omg i cant beleive the boys have gone they were so good at what they do as wel my favourite group has now gone am so disapointed really i am.wel i hope louis gives them a record contract because thats not the last i would like to hear of them! xxxx

Eton road was quite entertaining tonight, though I think sending them home was the right decision. I’ve never been a big fan anyway, but wish them good luck for the future.

The Lads don’t need to be winners in the x-factor to get the record deal, Louis & the crowds at Liverpool last Sunday have proved that. Onwards & upwards from now on for Eton Rd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! “your simply the best”.

Awwww i was soooooooooooooooooo upset when they left! But i’m glad ray and leona got through! Eton rd cud have dun a lot better, but evry1 knows they r gr8 anywayz so they’ll be famous in no time!! btw which one is the brunette (the main singer) xxx

its obvious that the juges want to keep ben in but come on he’s sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo unbelivably boring and always sings the same kind of stuff. Eton road so should have won but atleast theyre getting a recoding contract, can’t wait

NEITHER CAN I SPONGEBOB, THEY WILL BE MASSIVE. Simon can fix his show all he wants now and his winner end up like STEVE BROOKSTEIN (who), YEH HE WAS A simon ACT WHO WON. Even SHAYNE hasnt set the music world alight, Unless with someone like LOUIS, SIMON DOESNT SEEM TO MANAGE ACTS THAT WELL WHICH ARE SOLELY HIS, THATS because he loses interest. Like I have said before who really wants to win anyway.
There is more success coming second, third or even fourth. Just look at the previous years.
This is just a showcase and the public will make you a success or not. Its not up to Simon or anyone else in the music industry - who buys the records?
If the public like you then it is a done deal.

I was so gutted that eaton road went out on saturday night but it didn’t suprise me when they were up against ben in the bottom two. i hope louis sticks to his promise and gets them a record deal because i think we nead another good boy band!!!! love you x x x

I had a feeling they would be in the bottom two and then when it was Ben left with them, it was obvious what was going to happen, I’m not a fan of Ben, but I knew Simon would choose him to stay.
I was gutted Eton Road went home.

X Factor should be called Farce-Factor - it isn’t about winning anymore - and everybody knows it. (Ben looked fairly non-plussed to be in bottom two.) I think that Eton Road are the most unique and fun thing that has happened on the show - their Abba week “Does you mumma know?” was to die for. Don’t keep your fans waiting boys - we want more of you!!!

i cnt believe eton rd have gone they was the best act on the x factor by far and i was so gutted they shud of won, we all know y it happened simon knows they r a bigger threat 2 his act i h8 im he finks he is the best bt hes crap at a manager louis walsh is the best jus look at all his acts he has out n hu has simon gt… exactly. eton rd is going to do far better in life than any of stupid simons act so gd luck eton rd ur all mint n very fit love ya guys always n this is only the start n simon cowell n rot in hell hope he dusnt win bt even if he dus dat act wnt go anywhere in life coz hes so crap love ya eton rd ur the best xxx

Spongebob, are you deaf?? Ben is amazing, and in no way boring and he sings like a superstar and delivers every week. Eton Road were cool, but lets face it, they couldnt even stay in tune some weeks. Im not saying i didnt like them because they definately had that star quality, im just not sure whether Id want to listen to their album, or hear them on the radio.

@Rod Bell, whether or not you like it… let’s be realistic, Leona SHOULD win it anyway, because she is the most talented. Iv’e seen a few posts here by you rave on about Eton Road, but can you honestly say that they are on the same level as Leona or Ben ( heck, or even on Robert’s level?) IMO they appeal mostly to either very young girls or to the gay community

I honestly say GP from a talent and entertainment value, YES, Eton road ARE as talented as LEONA and BEN,Leona is just like a MARIAH CAREY she does the same thing wek in and out, extremely good ,YES, but she isnt my kind of Singer,My taste in music stretches from and through all decades to the great soul artistes like OTIS REDDING,ARETHA FRANKLYN, to ELVIS, PITNEY, ELTON JOHN,BEE GEES carrying on to LED ZEPPELIN BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW, also LONG ESTABLISHED STARS LIKE PETULA CLARK, EDITH PIAF, DIANA ROSS, MICHAEL JACKSON, to commercial pop, like TAKE THAT,I like ANNIE LENNOX, DEACON BLUE, SIMPLE MINDS, U2, currently like SCISSOR SISTERS, HIVES, SNOW PATROL, NELLY FURTADO, just a bref selecton of what I like so in that wide taste many though different from each other ARE as talented as the others. IF you consider you weren’t attacking me personally then something is wrong with your perception, I have been around since the late 60s seen and heard lots of music good and bad, ETON ROAD are fresh, lively, enormously talented and can sing anything, they brightened the show up to and never displayed contortions or over dramatics when singing the songs. I beleieve talent shows should find something new and versatile, BEN is great, and he’d admit himself in a limited field, mainly Rock, LEONA as I said has great talent but all she appears to be is a MARIAH CAREY like copy, over the weeks she hasnt proved me wrong yet, nor many others according to comments throughout this outlet.IN fact GP from an originality perspective I would go as far to say that ETON ROAD have more talent than LEONA because they have their own stamp to out on the songs they sing I dont think LEONA has her direction set yet on WHAT she wants to try to be but yes she has talent,great talent, but on X factor I and I think the majority of people want NEW INDIVIDUAL talent, IT ISN’T ‘STARS IN THEIR EYES’, IF I want to listen to MARIAH CAREY, I will put her CDs on.I’m not sure who you were referring to as an idiot but if the cap fits whoever, WEAR IT. I wasnt the one to first say things were being rigged for LEONA to win, BEN said that and he’s much nearer to see whats really going on than us.YOU want LEONA to win and no doubt will vote to do so,its your right to praise her and say why you think she should just as I will continue to express my view as why she shouldn’t and for me its the over dramatising of songs that dont need it and lack of originality.ROD,Newcastle

Now being serious for a mo… I completely disagree with you about Leona being just a cheap copy of Maria Carey, most of the people I’ve talked to about the show and about Leona can all see the potential in her as a young talented artist just starting out.
One thing a lot of people forget is just how difficult it is to perform (live) on such a large scale as this show is. Leona gives flawless performance after performance, every single week and is very professional in everything she does, always.
Ash… forgetting his words (even in the early days) several times, and to me his voice was not that great, sounded weird and not in tune half of the time.
Eton road, sorry but most of their performances(to my ears and eyes anyway), was all over the place, and on a couple of shows, was actually very funny listening to Anthony do his weird falsetto thingy while watching him do his ‘not really sure what the heck I’m doing’ campy dancing thing. If that’s what you mean by entertainment value,then I agree… it was bloody hilarious! Lol
Anyway, we all have our favorite act we like better and will support, so as said above, no hard feelings:)I think most of us watching think the show has gone downhill lately (as I said in a previous post here), so I’ll just leave it at that.

Careful Bushra you will get a lecture from GP about using capitals, M y problem is I often want to stress a word or words but forget the caps function is set. Never mind its not a major crime, however you are mistaken GP in that I never said LEONA was a ‘cheap’ copy, I described LEONA as having great talent, no, she isn’t my cup of tea although she did on S aturday the best version of I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU that I’ve heard, elsewhere on her own biography, (very short on comments or people raving about her actually), I said if she released that as a single I would buy it.I never used the word cheap. Maybe as with me ETON ROAD weren’t your cup of tea as LEONA isn’t mine, I like ANTHONY’S falsetto treatment to songs, THEY entertained and have drawn a vast number of people across the board young to older to like them, ALSO of course your statement that people dont realise how difficult it is performing ‘live’ on a show like that in all farness must apply to ‘all’ the acts not just Leona, I dont think she has given flawless performances each week, S haron has pulled her up for losint it when singing in the softer register a few times, For me she has done 2 amazing performances ‘Summertime’ and ‘I will always love you’. Other performances I could have seen from many artistes of her like already.Thats my view. Yours differs from me and thats fine.The odd thing is you chose myself to challenge yet many are saying totally the same and worse on LEONA throughout this outlet, many more use only capitals wholly, yet you challenged myself out of all of them, I take that personally and it is for me to feel offended not ‘you’ to say I am or I’m not. Anyway you like Leona, she is likely to win,however I agree on one thing the shaow has gone vastly downhill this year,you will likely disagree again but I feel the themed weeks have suffocated the chance for the best of the artistes to come out,quite what Sharon would have done with CHICO last year with these themed weeks I have no idea. Eton Rd were da best act on the show, they will be missed. I was deverstated wen they got voted off, but was happy to hear louis going to give them a record contract. You go Rod! You have supported Eton Rd all the way through this. GP I recall you using the word ‘queer’ in one of your previous notes in ref to Eton Rd and their fans, you seem to be very fond of offending people - not a nice trait in someone! In my opinion, Eton Rd will be sadly missed, they are refreshing to a show like this. It’s called the X Factor and my translation of this is having that little extra sparkle, not just a good voice. Look at Ben, great voice but BLAND (yes I do meen to shout!) no sparkle at all. I will see you at their first concert Rod! x

Thank you LuLu Mc, your support is greatly appreciated,I know ETON ROAD will be massive ‘because’ they are different and stand out even from other boybands, Of course sometimes the performances weren’t ‘fine’ tuned perfect,in a week the acys have to learn a song they likely have not heard never mind sung before, then work on the harmonies, then choreograph it, No one can expect total perfection but the vast majority of the time they achieved it,that is real talent, for me as you say the whole package was with ETON ROAD,they proved they could dance, sing a fast song, do a ballad, all their members sharing lead vocals, could do fun songs and serious ones, their ‘MY GIRL’ was awesome.They also are so fun loving, full of energy onstage and so likeable, The show is the loser with them gone, those like GP are entitled to their opinion even if it is flawed and incorrect but they shouldnt twist what others say to try and make a point. As you rightly say and clearly agree with me on is thet ETON ROAD had that sparkle over the other acts, I held that view from boot camp and its never wavered.Roll on that first concert LuLu Mc and thank you again.ROD,Newcastle
