Gary Barlow raves about James Arthur again – Nicole Scherzinger tells Christopher Maloney not to be offended!
Nicole Scherzinger has insisted that Gary Barlow didn’t mean to insult Christopher Maloney when he said he hopes James Arthur will win the X Factor.
The former Pussycat Doll is mentoring the 23 year old singer songwriter and was delighted when Gaz gushed about his performance of ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ last night, exclaiming:
“Putting my category aside – and I probably shouldn’t say this – I want you to win this competition.”
The dad of three added:
“I just think you’re brilliant. I love your music, your interpretation, I love how you get embarrassed. I love everything about you.”
A caller on The Xtra Factor asked Nicole if Gary was being unfair to Maloney – who he is mentoring – when he made the admission but she insisted:
“I don’t think he meant it like that, Gary is an artist and he really appreciates and respects the work of James. I don’t think he meant any disrespect to Christopher. ”
Gary was quick to point out that he did start the sentence with ‘putting my category aside,’ which meant that Chris had no reason to be upset.
However he continued to rave about James and his amazing musical skills saying:
“I think he’s brilliant, I could not fault him. For me – and this is where it becomes personal choice – he is the act that I would just buy their cd right now.”
On what he would change about the 23 year old he added:
“Nothing at all, he has had a great competition every week. The funny thing is with James it’s not only musically that I think he shines but also visually, what they put around him, it’s just right. It just is….well done Nicole.”
Do you think Gary is right to get so involved in another mentor’s act? Does Chris have a right to be upset? Leave your comments below…
