Gary Barlow has admitted that he was shocked when he heard that Rough Copy were going to be in the singoff on last night’s X Factor show.
The Take That star has mentored the grow since bootcamp and has been hoping that as his final act, the band would make it into this year’s final on the ITV series.
However despite get rave reviews following their version of Don’t Let Go on Saturday, the boys ended up in the bottom two last night with their pal Hannah Barrett.
They performed Oasis’ Stop Crying Your Heart Out for their save me song and luckily all the judges, except Nicole Scherzinger, voted to save them.
Speaking on the Xtra Factor Gary admitted:
“[I’m] In shock. They did a great performance last night, the problem isn’t the songs or singing at this stage. The competition is very strong and someone has got to go. Someone has got to be in the bottom two, it was unlucky it was those guys but they will bounce back, I know they will.”
He is still hopeful that the boys will make the final and added:
“Of course, they’ve got to always believe because we have seen in years past that anything can happen, even at this point.”
Sharon Osbourne admitted that she had a tough time choosing between Rough Copy and Hannah yesterday. She voted to save the band, despite her love of Hannah’s voice.
However Mrs O had previously said that she couldn’t save the 17 year old a singer for a third time if she ended up in the bottom two again.
“It was a really hard decision because I felt it was the wrong people there,” Shaz revealed yesterday. “I didn’t want to make that decision and when you see somebody there that is so talented and you know has so much more to give, you don’t want to let them go now.”
Louis Walsh found the decision much easier to make and told Caroline Flack that he had to save Gary’s group, since it was their first time at the bottom.
“Hannah, it was her third time there and I didn’t want to lose Rough Copy,” he claimed. “They have got so much more to give. I didn’t think their song was amazing last night but they are a great group.”
Former runner up Jahmene Douglas congratulated the Rough Copy boys last night, tweeting:
“@RoughCopyUK well done with the performance. Great vocals! Love and peace x”
