Fans of Taylor Swift – who is of course the ex-girlfriend of One Direction’s Harry Styles – will be pleased to hear that they’ll see the US pop star in the season finale of hit American show, New Girl.
She’s set to play the role of a character called Elaine, who’s “an important guest” at Jess’s best friend Cece’s wedding. Jess is of course played by Zooey Deschanel.
Entertainment Weekly report that Taylor will be on the set of the show next week to film her scenes.
And of course, it’s not the first time Taylor’s starred in high profile shows as she’s also formerly appeared in CBS’s CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, playing a rebellious teenager.
Taylor made her feature film debut in the 2010 ensemble comedy Valentine’s Day, in which she played the role of the girlfriend of a high school jock opposite Twilight’s Taylor Lautner. In addition, last year, Taylor voiced the character of Audrey in the animated film The Lorax.
However, while some critics have loved Taylor’s work in film and on TV drama, others not so much.
Here’s what Wiki has to say on that subject…
The Los Angeles Times felt the performance [in Valentine’s Day] suggested “serious comedic potential” while the San Francisco Chronicle found her “very funny”.
Time remarked that Swift portrayed her character “rather charmingly”; The Boston Globe described her as “adorably dorky”. Salon asserted that she was “one of the few actors not wasted in “Valentine’s Day”.
Her overgrown-pixie look and odd, widely set eyes lend her a little bit of Marilyn and a little bit of Lucille Ball: She’s Taylor-made for comic greatness.” However, Variety found her “entirely undirected … she needs to find a skilled director to tamp her down and channel her obviously abundant energy”.
