After a day of criticisms from Rhydian fans, ITV have spoken out and denied that there were any voting problems during Saturday night’s X factor show.
Many Rhydian supporters have claimed that they called in excess of ten times, yet failed to get through to register their votes even once.
The fiasco has even resulted in five Welsh radio stations banning Leon Jackson’s debut single from their playlist.
However, a spokesman for the show insisted: “We had millions of votes cast and there were no problems with the voting. Some Virgin customers took several efforts due to the high call volume, but that was all. In any huge phone event like this, a few people will have to keep trying.”

Spent over an hour of continual pressing redial button to try and vote for Same Difference and it was continually engaged. I have no faith in phone votes anymore, but relented as I so wanted Same Difference to win, still got no faith.

I tried to telephone the X factor phone line 15 times to vote for Rhydian Roberts before getting through. For ITV to say that it was a problem with the virgin phone libe is a nonsense as I used a BT landline. No disrsepects to Leon jackson, he’s a nice lad (and I wish him well, but I felt that the decision was dodgy. I also thought that pannelists Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh, by their behaviour and changes of behaviour knew the result before the announcement was made. I think if Rhydian had a sob story (single parent mother/ death of a parent/bullied at school), he had cried more and wasn’t Welsh, he would have romped to victory. The dodgy phone situation makes me wonder if the result (which was very close) was valid!
I tried only twice to vote for Leon and got through the third time of trying -I thought Rhydian had a wonderful voice but not ‘pop’ enough. Well done Leon, hope you enjoy your great success. Rags to riches is what this competition is all about…enjoy. Rhydian will not miss out on a career, he is already being endorsed for greater things.
The votes weren’t fixed. Rhydian and his fans are just sore losers.
We tried all night to get through for Leon and couldn’t. My friend said the same about SD.
I tried frequently to vote for Leon and was unable to get through. I know that many of my family and friends had the same problem. I certainly think that Leon deserved to win. Well done Leon!!
Leon stinks, Rhyddian was brilliant.
