We have to admit that we’ve been known to descend into a state of panic and shaking when rumours start circulating and suggesting that ITV is considering The X Factor, so today we’re feeling pretty chuffed because apparently the singing show is here to stay!

Simon Cowell brought The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent to the British TV channel and
it’s director of television Peter Fincham has claimed that both formats are integral to ITV’s success and will be about for the forseeable future.

Yay!

Ratings dipped for the singing competition over the past few years, ever since the judging lineup lost Simon and Cheryl Cole and the lower viewing figures led to speculation that time could be running out for the reality TV talent format.

BGT has regained it’s audience, ever since David Walliams joined the panel and Cowell returned on a full time basis but X Factor has been consistently losing out to it’s BBC rival Strictly Come Dancing in recent years, as it goes head to head in the weekly Saturday night ratings battle.

This year the show has been shaken up and tweaked and ITV director Peter has insisted that he’s committed to both series’ and that they are here to stay.

“Huge brands like The X Factor and BGT are absolutely central to our schedule, I think they’re going to be around for a long time to come.” he said speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival.

The news comes after reports suggested that ITV were considering axing Britain’s Got Talent, before the 2013 run delivered bumper audiences and attracted rave reviews.

The X Factor returns next Saturday, August 31 and viewers will be treated to footage of the best and worst auditioness that showed up to perform for Sharon Osbourne, Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger at the recent tryouts.

The stars will be in London to launch the show this week, however Gaz is in New York currently with the most talented of his acts and he’s whittling down the last six groups to just three for the live shows. He tweeted:

“Hello Manhattan ! I’m ready for action !”

Earlier this week he posted:

“Last few days of hols ! Back to work this Sunday then no rest till Xmas !”

Gary’s not in NY just for X Factor. Twitter has been buzzing all day long about his video shoot in Brooklyn and the pics and news about the sound of the single have been great.
