Jahmene Douglas has admitted that he didn’t want Nicole Scherzinger to return to The X Factor this year.
The ‘Poison’ hitmaker admitted earlier this year that she was ‘torn’ between making a comeback on the ITV show and focussing on her music career but in the end the money talked and after negotiating a massive pay rise she returned to the panel.
Nicole will not sit alongside Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh once more but Jahmene – who was in Scherzy’s category in 2012 – revealed that he told her not to do it.
The soul singer told The Belfast Telegraph:
“I personally wanted her to focus on an album but I encourage her in whatever she wants to do and I think that it’s nice that people get to experience her again in another year.”
Jahmene finished in second place last year and thinks that whoever gets Nicole for the 2013 run will be truly ‘blessed’. he added:
“I know that she’s an amazing mentor so whoever has her is going to be blessed and encouraged they best they can be.”
Nicole’s advice and words of wisdom still have an affect on the Swindon star and Douglas continued:
“Everything she said on the show, like ‘grow some balls’, just stuck with me for some time. I’ll get her back…it’s fine.”
However, Jahmene thinks things will get even more crazy than last year, especially since Sharon Osbourne is now returning to the show. He thinks the ladies will enjoy being crazy together and laughed:
“It’s nice to have a little bit more crazy. Nicole and Sharon…..something is going to happen! Girls against boys.”
Nicole, Sharon, Gary and Louis conducted auditions for The X Factor in London last week and Scherzinger seems pleased with the talent they found.
“We found some amazing talent on the @TheXFactor, goodbye London see you soon xo”
Osbourne’s glad to be back too and added:
“Hurray! @TheXFactor auditions in my hometown London today. I love it!! #XFactor”
