Jahmene Douglas has revealed that he and Nicole Scherzinger have remained close, ever since he finished on The X Factor last year.
The former Pussycat Dolls star mentored the handsome young singer as he competed on the ITV show and helped him reach the series finale, where he finished in second place behind James Arthur.
Generally, when the series concludes, hopefuls lose contact with their mentors and we have seen this occur on many occasions in years gone by. However Douglas has insisted that the ‘Poison’ hitmaker has maintained a friendship with her UK proteges and claimed that she even advised him on music choices for his upcoming album.
“She’s helped me so much with this album,” he told The Daily Star. “She texts and emails me advice all the time.”
Nicole was a huge hit with the British public due to her zany comments, her invented phrases and her enthusiastic outbursts on the live shows.
Jahmene admitted that he and the Hawaiian beauty had their own language by the end of the process and laughed:
“She’s always making up words – not just on TV. We used to do it backstage all the time on the show. We had our own little language by the end.”
Jahmene is currently busy working on his debut album, which is slated for release later this year. He will also be performing with the London Community Gospel Choir at the launch of the 30 Choir Festival at London’s Southbank Centre between May 4 and 6.
As a gospel music fan, Douglas loved watching Incognito shine on Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday and as the ensemble wowed the BGT judges on screen, the X Factor star tweeted:
“YES Patrick’s choir representing gospel in England on @GotTalent !! <3 #manyblessings .. I pray you do your best! #BGT”
He also enjoyed the moving performance by shadow dancers Attraction and added:
“That gave me goosebumps #BGT @GotTalent”
It seems that Jahmene is not immune to a pretty face either and he was a fan of sultry singer Alice Fredenham who closed the show. Douglas wrote:
“#bgt this lady has a nice package of looks and a beautiful tone to her voice x”
