Jamie Archer (Jamie Afro) is voted off X Factor 2009

In the third terrible result of the series Jamie Archer has been voted off the X Factor.

As Jedward sailed through to the next week, Jamie found himself in the bottom two with young Lloyd Daniels. Before the pair even sang their final song, Louis Walsh made it clear that he would be saving Lloyd because he has more ‘potential and appeal’. In effect it didn’t matter how Jamie sang ‘The Show Must Go On’, because Louis’ vote for Lloyd and Dannii’s subsequent decision to vote for the actual best singer, forced the show to deadlock. The public vote was consulted and Jamie Afro was sent home.

Simon almost predicted the result earlier today. At this point I must agree with Leona Lewis. X Factor is no longer about the singing, it is a mere soap opera.

I’m glad Lloyd got through. He’s really good and is only 16.

    • Karen says:

Lloyd has been awful. I cringe almost every week when he sings. I actually like him so I don’t mean to be nasty, he seems like a nice enough guy but he just isn’t good enough. Age shouldn’t come into it. It’s unfair if Lloyd has an advantage because he’s young. The X Factor wasn’t on when Jamie was 16. Had it been, I’m guessing at 16 he would have sang better than Lloyd has so far.
X Factor has been a farce this year. I am reminded of the ‘Laura White Fiasco’ last series. She has a single out, everybody should buy it! The British public either don’t understand what talent is….or they just don’t care.

  2. stuart says:

jamie was the best singer of this series, it is louie who should be voted off, the man is a numbskull

  3. freddy says:

all the x factor is rubish especially the judges

  4. Jade says:

I’m sorry but the X-Factor has never been a singing competition.
    1) You have to audition in front of the Producers before you get through to the Judges. Good singers are thrown out of the competition very early on for terrible singer who is entertainment for those at home.
    2) The Judges put 70-80 year olds through to boot camp knowing full well they won’t go further. These places could have been given to good singers too.
    3) There are always going to be some contestants that are better singers than others. Is it a farce when an good singer is kept over a Brilliant singer?
    4) Let me remind you of Kat and Ben from previous series. Both were rockers, neither won and both are now unknowns. The same is likely to happen of Jamie.

  5. Karen says:

I think it is a farce when a good singer is kept in instead of somebody more talented. That to me is quite logical.
I am well aware of the set up with the producers and such, doesn’t have any impact on my opinion about tonight. If it had been a piece on people being given valuable places who are clearly not going to win, I would have commented on that. Or about the audition process, bad singers being kept for entertainment etc, I would have commented on how frustrating that must be for those people who can sing and do not make it through. But with regards to 4 ‘experts?’ of the business having two people in front of them and having to choose which was better….it ain’t happening. In previous years I feel although there were some outrages, the judges mainly focused on the voice. Now it’s just bad decisions week in week out. So with regards to my ‘farce’ comment, in the sense I meant it, which due to the nature of the article and my opinion is obvious. Yes it is a farce. I didn’t call it a singing competition or anything else you mentioned so that is all irrelevant.

  6. shipona says:

i think al the comments that are given by people were right. the best singer should’ve stay on for longer. i felt realy bed for the singer luicy who has the best voice and can sing very well i just cant believe that she has alredy left last week.

jame has the voice i just dont like his type of song thats all. i dont feel sory for him the way i felt sory for luicy. neways what i think the x factor cant chosu

  7. Steve says:

Jamie Archer – He’s Only Just Begain!

  8. shipona says:

i think all the comments are given by people were right the x factor cant choose the right singer, thefore they are thrawing all the good singers. i realy felt bad luciy has alredy gone last week. see what i mean the x factor has very bad choice.
i dont feel sorry for jame because i dont like his type of song but he has the vest voice. i just wanted to tell the x factor one thing that they should be more carefull before they’re thrawing al the good singers.

HUGE disappiontment!!!! Jamie was my very favorite performer and I am sorry to see him go. Jamie, if voting was allowed for you here in the USA, I would have burned up the telephone wires!

I am almost incredulous that Jamie is gone before Jedward, LLoyd and Danyl.

    • edna scott says:

wot a huge disapointment the hole programme is now a farce louis walsh does not no his ass from his elbow he had it in for jamie for sum reason and made it very obvious he is a pompous ass and really loves himsel and that is cuming from sum1 who comes from n. ireland simon cowell also had his chance to get rid of the “terrible twins” but let it go 2 deadlock and lucy went instead wich was ridiculous

  10. Stinkyppoop says:

I really Like Lloyd, bu8t Jamie was a better singer

  11. Andrea says:

Cant believe Jamie is out of X Factor, its a travesty, John and Edward may be cute and only young lads but they cant sing, cant dance and are quite talentless! Maybe Simon will realise now that he shot himself in the foot by not getting rid of them when he had the chance, we are losing real talent now, Thanks Simon, how many fans of the show have to stop watching before you start to play fair??

  12. Mel says:

X Factor not worth watching now Jamie has gone. He was the best and he put his all into his performances. The show now seems to be only about Olly wiggling his hips (does nothing for me!!!). Disappointment reigns supreme now there is no more Jamie!!!!! Louie I used to respect your judgement until now!!!

  13. Carol says:

X Factor has become a farce. No longer a singing contest as all the best singers are getting thrown out..John and Edward would have been more suited to Britain’s got Talent..used to respect Louis but no more..he has lost his good judgement big time..at least Danii voted on the singing..but Louis’ personal feelings got in the way..

  14. NO.1 JAMIE FAN says:

no lloyd is horrible jamie should of went through go jamie!gld twins got through though!

  15. Lisa says:

Jaime is too much for this program he is not a singer, or better, a musician to be on this kind of competition. This program is awful, and the singers is always the same, change a little bit each year but, is the same. A lot of estereotipes together…For him and his public is better to see him out of this soap opera. He knows that he needs a brake, this program was a brake for him and that’s all. I think is enough, as he sad: ¨it’s time to go and it’s time to go¨. Now I’d like to see him singing his songs for his public. I’ll be there.

  16. Marc says:

WAKE UP BRITAIN!!! Jamie Archer is a great singer. Not an ORIGINAL performer.
Virtually, all the Rock Stars punched their fists into the air (Mercury, Conolly, Gray,Daltry, and many many others.
And to be honest, I’ve seen it all before.
The ‘AFRO’ GIMMICK thing will eventually be history as people will be bored of the big hair do. His only strength will be in his ability to WRITE original songs, if he is to survive and gain any credibility.
The SAD thing about the X-Factor is that, there should be one for songwriters, where a proffessional band plays and sings the songs, and the public votes for the top 10 best songs.
Then people like Jamie are given the chance to put one of the winning songs in the pop charts.
There are many talented songwriters who should also be given a chance to show the british public what they can offer.
Unfortunately, Simon Cowe has got half the formula. Quite sad really.
And Simon, how about an X-Factor for Bands only. Why concentrate on the squeeky clean voices of solo artists. I want exciting rock songs back in th UK charts, thank you very much.

    • Lisa says:

In part, I agree with you Marc. He is a great singer but maybe not so original and he must have to show his own music now. And I think he will do. But I also think he’s brave, cause his originality is based on he doesn’t fit on this kind of contest and he knows. Maybe he’s common on the music business but he’s different on the Xfactor formula. He, singing on this show, makes him very original. Today almost nothing is original and which makes something original is how something or someone works on a context. And yes, I think he has personality and originality on this context.
