Jedward: ‘We won’t just stand there like Joe McElderry’
With all the hype surrounding John and Edward Grimes this week, it is easy to forget that they didn’t actually win The X Factor last year. In fact they didn’t even make it to the final, but still they attract more attention that the winner Joe McElderry.
In an interview with The Sun, Jedward claimed that they weren’t in competition with Joe, but then went on to blast his performing style.
John told the newspaper: “Us and Joe are not in competition, he’s doing his thing and we are doing ours. He sings a ballad and just stands there whereas we make sure we don’t go out there and have anything lacking. We don’t just stand there like a blank page.
“We want to become more solid as John and Edward rather than just X Factor contestants. We know we have to prove ourselves as artists and put out positive vibes to establish ourselves beyond The X Factor.”

I LOVE John and Edward – they’re fantastic and work really hard. I’ve seen them perform live three times and on stage they’re incredible and really entertaining. If all you haters actually gave them a chance, you would like them also but because the X-Factor made it out they were awful boys and awful entertainers. See them live just once and meet them, you’ll change your minds.
But they can’t sing and they only got a contract for one single. I do not hate them i only think they have nothing to do with popmusic.
On a single you can’t see the peformance. And we know that they do not sing in tune so the single is an manufactured product made by autotune.
They just performed the single live on GMTV this morning, you can hear the microphone pops and them getting out of breath.
They can sing in tune.
They are pure modern pop music, very MTV generation, energetic and fun.
Live, they really are amazing. The buzz between them and the audience is electric.
I really can’t see any of Joe’s future tracks getting people up on the dance floor. John & Edward’s I can.
I agree with Jedward. They are not in competition with Joe McElderry. They have their own style of singing and Joe has one of his own. Both styles appeal to different audiences. I wish all three success in the music industry.
How many weeks of X Factor showed us that they can’t sing and rap. That is something you learn in a view weeks. That they put a nice performance on thats nice but then they still can’t sing.

Respectfully, I’d like to point out that Jedward didn’t get to number 1 this weekend either, so maybe now they’ll appreciate how Joe felt.
Having said that, going straight to no.2 is very good, so … many congratulations to them.
Jedward really know how to put on a performance, and i absolutley love hearing them sing, they have sweet voices, they sound so young

joe is incredible and he doesn’t only sing ballads. he’s got an amazing voice, something that john and edward don’t have. i had nothing against them because i thought they were nice people, and joe’s supported both them the whole time, so it’s really horrible for the to say that about him. i don’t even know why j&e have a single out, they can’t sing which is why you know the single has been 100% edited.

I think people again, are taking one small comment to far, all they was saying is that they are different to him thats all, why is it when the twins dare to speak about how they feel, people start on them again, they are intiteld an opioin, they are not being nasty, the twins get insulted more than anyone ive ever known
They don’t need to say that they are “different than Joe”….EVERYONE KNOWS THAT! Joe is a SINGER…a huge talent, and Jedward are two simps trying to malign Joe. Apparently they will try anything to get into the spotlight.
Joe never spoke negatively about THEM.
If they have some fans who get-off watching these two weenies jump around on stage, well, then they’ve got nothing better to do.

The thing is they are atracting attention for all the wrong reasons i mean i find them totaly irratating and atleast joe can sing unlike them come on i think i have heard a pinaple what they resemble strongly sing better than them aleast a bloody pinaple is not on every tv chanle when you tearn it over.
p.s : they have put me off pinaple for life.
Know what I don’t believe for a second that John and Edward said those things about Joe for the simple fact that their nice lads. Remember people don’t believe everything you read take that with a pinch of salt. My advice is for both Jedward and Joe fans to calm down. If Jedward are on twitter etc somebody should ask them if it’s true or not.
It appears Jedward are just a little too full of themselves. It is one thing to have confidence, but it is yet another to try to tear someone down in an attempt to build yourself up. They would have been fine if they had stopped at saying they have a different performing style from Joe, and left it at that. Since they competed against Joe to win a one million dollar record deal, which Joe won and they did not, their remarks sound petty and classless.
We should appreciate the fact that there are wide ranges of personal tastes in music, and not be critical of others’ choices. I personally like Joe’s beautiful voice, and I will support his career. I expect Jedward’s fans will do the same for them.
I think it is time for Louie to have a talk with the boys about being more thoughtful and respectful of the success of others.

Well that’s X-factor for you all over.I really want Jedward to be successful (for the wrong reasons I’m afraid).They will take the x-factor machine down with them – the show will become a laughing stock.I can see why Cowell was so reluctant to back them.Gowwwwwwww Jedwarrrrrd! Hahahaha.
I personally think they’re getting more cockier and big headed by the day. Yeah fair enough there faces are shoved on every media report going but that doesnt mean EVERYONE loves them. In fact im getting irrated looking and hearing about them all the time. It could come to a point where it just becomes too much. They also need to learn some manners and stop belittling Joe.
I completely agree with Deane and Meaghan. I didn’t really object to the twins per se but they’ve become over-exposed already. They’re EVERYWHERE. Not everyone loves them, much as fans of the twins would like to believe either. They’re marmite. However, I do appreciate the controversy they caused (and continue to cause), keeps x factor in people’s minds, so they are a bit of a cash cow for Simon … at the moment.
I actually started to like them but since hearing a couple of their interviews, I’ve not been too impressed. Poor Joe – true to his sweet nature – has always been supportive and lovely about them, never an unkind word to say (and by the way, I’m getting tired of interviewers bringing up Jedward every time they interview Joe), yet I’ve never once heard them support Joe. If they did describe Joe’s performance as a ‘blank page’ then I really think that shows how full of themselves the twins are getting. Knowing how the media have a tendancy to misquote though, I’m giving the twins the benefit of the doubt on this quote. Even so, they seem to be believing their own hype which is always dangerous and their management need to nip that in the bud. People that were starting to warm to them (as I admit I was) will be put off them and they’ll be gaining a few less fans than they would otherwise have.
I’m going to the x-factor tour soon (first time I’ve ever wanted to) and it’s purely to see Joe perform (what the twins may view as a ‘blank page’, I personally see as being classy and professional, rather than amateur), although I’m really looking forward to Stacey, Lucie, Danyl, Olly, Lloyd and Jamie too, having enjoyed all of their performances on last year’s show.
Lastly, as Lucy says, Joe is ‘awesome’! Very proud of how well he’s conducted himself since the show finished. His good manners, maturity and talent will take him far.
if i had my way these twins would be throwen out of show business . they have phoney american accents and they try to cheat on other performers . i would like to know what was wrong with joe mcelderry’ mic . was it tampered with?.
those twins are a waste of time and cant say anything good about anyone except them selves . with luck they wont be around for long
