The lights went out, the stage plunged into darkness and suddenly Journey South jump to the rescue.

After a power outage at the X Factor TV studio on Sunday the boys from Journey South (Andy and Carl Pemberton) got to work with their tool boxes and managed to fix the electrical fault, saving producers a whole day of vital behind the scenes filming!

An ITV insider added: “All the contestants were rehearsing when it went black. The girls screamed and the producers were scrabbling around with a torch.

“But Carl and Andy sorted it out in no time. Nobody could believe it — Andy had kept it secret that he used to be an electrician.�
