Katy Perry is keen to replace Kelly Rowland on X Factor 2012

Katy Perry has been frequently linked to this year’s series of The X Factor, after Kelly Rowland announced she wouldn’t return to the panel.

The Destinys Child star confirmed last week that she wouldn’t be appearing on a second series and since then, stars linked to the ITV show have included the ‘Part Of Me’ hitmaker and former show judge Dannii Minogue.

However, the likelihood of Katy taking part seems to be increasing, after it was claimed this week that the American singer is keen to join the lineup.

Justin Bieber has claimed that the brunette beauty loves the talent show and told him that she would be keen to move to the UK on a more permanent basis.

She of course acted as a guest judge back in 2010, when Dannii Minogue was on maternity leave and it seems that she enjoyed her time with Simon Cowell immensely.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the Canadian teen idol said:

“I have spoken with Katy about her time on The X Factor in the UK and she said it was the most fun she had ever had.”

He added: “She told me she would love to live in London at some point, so working on The X Factor would be like two ambitions coming true.”

However, many fans seem keen to have Dannii return to the show, with some claiming that the Australian star is exactly what Simon needs, if he wants to push the show back to the top of the ratings chart this autumn.

Who would you like to see replacing Kelly when the auditions start later this month? Katy, Dannii, Sharon Osbourne or someone totally new?

I am a Dannii fan, but think it would be a mistake if she went back to the X Factor, so I am glad she is not going back. It would be a step back for her and she has enough going on at the moment. She has already done four series and mentored two winners, so she has proved herself enough and why risk going back when she went out on a high during her last series.

Dannii not going back to The X Factor is the right decision in my opinion. I still enjoy watching her on Australia’s Got Talent clips on youtube, so it is not as if she has disappeared from tv completely.

However, I think Katy Perry is a great choice. She would be fresh and liven up the panel. I never watched it last year because the panel did not interest me, but if Katy is on the show, I will give it a chance.

No doubt the producers will do all they can to make sure Katy gets her first win. I think if Katy is on the show, the ratings will definitely improve from last year.
