Kylie Minogue has been credited as the saviour of The Voice in the UK but bosses may have to find themselves a new nation’s sweetheart for 2015.
The Australian star joined the singing show panel, replacing Jessie J for the third series and a definite ratings boost coincided with her debut as a coach.
Viewing numbers jumped by up to 30%, hype definitely picked up around the format and people have fallen in love again with the Spinning Around star.
However Kylie has revealed that her boost to The Voice could be a one time only treat.
Before she heads into this weekend’s knockout rounds, Kylie admitted that she wants to dedicate more time to her music going forward and with a new album coming out next week and a tour in the pipeline, it’s looking like she might not have time to fit it all in.
Minogue has taped most of the BBC series. She only has to show up for a handful of live shows later this month and they might be the last she ever appears on.
Chatting with The Mirror the Into The Blue singer revealed that her music will take priority going forward, as will her seat on the Australian version of the talent show. She explained:
“I’m already doing it again in Australia, but UK or Australia, I don’t know if I could (do another series) because I’m going to be touring. We’ll see.”
“I am doing The Voice Australia so that will carry on until July. I’ve got to get through at least this one first, and then two with Australia.”
After the forthcoming knockout rounds, which will see Kylie whittling her team of seven down to just three, there will be three live shows. At the end of those a winner will be chosen by the public.
Minogue would love to push one of her singers to the top spot and she thinks she’s in with a good chance too. Bookies are tipping her as the favourite to triumph, with teenage singer Rachael O’Connor.
“I’ve got strong contenders but I think every team has. We all end up with someone in the final live show, so we’re all in with a chance until the very end,” she said.
Kylie’s new album Kiss Me Once – which was made with Jay Z’s Roc Nation label – is released on March 17.
