Leon Jackson Defends Covers Album
So it seems as though Cowell and Co have not put as much thought into Leon Jackson’s album as they would have us believe. They certainly didn’t hire the world class songwriters that were used on Leona Lewis’ album!
At a recent press conference leon spoke out to defend the amount of covers on his new album.
MSN quote him as saying:
Leon said: “It’s a not a whole jazz record, there’s some acoustic numbers in there as well which I’ve used as some covers. I’ve just tried to breathe new life into them and make them my own.
“When you take a cover that’s what your ultimate achievement is. For instance I took the song Misty Blue which is a Dorothy Moore number, which is an old, old track and the way we’ve done (it) is we’ve really modernised it and that was fun for me to do.”
Leon added: “I’ve been part of the whole creative process, right up to the album artwork and the tracklisting so it’s been fantastic.
“I got stuck straight into it. I had some songwriting sessions and the songs came in and I did my thing and recorded them and I’ve seen them being born musically.
“To just be able to go to the studio on a daily basis as a job was amazing, it took a lot of getting used to.”
