Leon Jackson – Don’t Call This Love – It’s Actually Quite Good!
The long-awaited and marginally hyped second single from Leon Jackson is hitting the stores in October.
Let’s just remind ourselves of what we said last Christmas when Leon was storming the charts in a blaze of X Factor-led publicity.
Is it possible that Leon may be about to wipe the smug grin off our record-reviewing faces?
Certainly, from what we’ve heard of the song via YouTube (below), he’s managed to bag the overblown power ballad that we always expected Leona Lewis would get.
The peeps behind this have thrown everything at it – big, Christmassy chimes, the full orchestral arrangement and overblown chorus.
And in fairness to the lad, he’s got an amazingly smooth voice on this track. Surprised? We were. OK, it’s not the most original of songs, but Don’t Call This Love has a kind of timeless charm to it. We might officially have to eat our words, because this just might be a big hit.
Finally, kudos to the marketing department on the very grown-up makeover they’ve given Leon.
We expect to see a major push when the X Factor live shows commence…in October.
Don’t Call This Love is available for digital download on 11 October and in the stores on 13 October.

He would get a hit whether it was good or rubbish off the back of the X-Factor. They need to do a lot of hype to sell this as he was not a deserving winner based on talent, he even had to have singing lessons before he could record a record, I know artists who havre made it still have singing lessons but not before you can be let loose on the public. I think he will be a one single and album hit wonder because of the X-Factor but do not think he will last long.

I love the new single. Those people saying “Leon shouldn’t have won, it should of been Rhydian” are jst bad losers and totally wrong. Leon has a unique and lovely voice!!

First time I heard it I loved it!
I didn’t like Rhydian and because of him I got bored and didn’t watch anymore. My loss!

OOOOh my lord i love Leon i voted for him all the time last year and this new song is AMAZING. I had already heard part of it from his website but it was SO SO good on the X factor last week!

As a radio 4 listener and not a fan of x factor, I have only just chanced upon this young man. Had to go and buy his cd, just wonderful to listen to and watch. He’s a match for sinatra, just you watch him.

I dont rate the guy, he’s just too small time. The problem is he just doesnt seem like a superstar. He’s like that weirdo eougehn quigg from 2008’s X factor who will never make it big time cause he’s just too well “small time”
