Leona Lewis threw out of London boutique because of her skin colour

Former X Factor winner Leona Lewis, has revealed that she was recently threw out of a trendy London boutique because of her skin colour.
Leona was shopping with her father Joe a few months ago, when the assistant told them to leave because she “didn’t like the look” of them.
Leona told The People: “I looked at her and asked, ‘Are you joking?’. She was implying that we were trying to steal stuff.”
Leona’s Dad pulled her out of the store before she could call police. She added: “I was crying. Being judged by the colour of your skin is horrible.”

It doesn’t necessarily mean that it was because of the colour of her skin it could have been her appearance. I went shopping once when I was feeling a bit under the weather, my hair did not look it’s best and I’d just got jeans and jumper on. I definately did not look smart and the security guard followed me everywhere round the shop, this was a shop I regulary used but looked better with no problems. I did complain in the end and asked if he had a problem and a shop worker said no he was only doing his job, I asked why he was not following anyone else and on the many occasions I’d been there before it had not happened. I agreed they needed to watch people but unless they are acting suspiciously not follow them around the whole shop, I told them it was because of the way I was dressed that day and the security guard looked embarrassed and said sorry, so it just goes to show how shops judge you on appearance. So if someone wanted to shoplift just dress smart and security will take no notice of you.
Maybe this was what happened to Leona, personally if I had thought it was because of the colour of skin I would have challenged her and taken it higher.
if you think it’s not because of the color of her skin you are a fool..
This seems to me a clear case of racism.
Trudy — do you live in the real world. Believe me, when you are the target of racism, you know it.
As secondly, your story isn’t believable at all. It seems that you simply want to justify someone’s bad behavior.
Be a real woman, and stand up for what is right.
Jebo, I am not really worried whether you think it is believable or not it happened and I know as I was there.
I do live in the real world and I have seen people targeted by racists and yes it’s very unpleasant and wrong. What I am saying is that everything is not always down to racism and in the article there wasn’t anything said by the assistant about her colour maybe in another version there is but I was commenting on this one. I know that it does not necessarily have to be put into actual words to be intended that way.
If you read my post you would see that I did say that if they thought it was racism then they should have challenged it. I have personally advocated for young people when faced with racism and supported them and encouraged them to stand up for themselves so it is stopped and show people it is unacceptable behaviour. So please do not lecture me on doing the right thing, I do not need you to tell me how I should behave I know already. I also know that you should allow other people to have their views without being offensive to them if they do not agree with yours as that is good manners.
Typical Britain. People like to think of themselves as not racist. People also like to think this doesn’t happen here, but get real UK, it does. This is typically what I and many friends have experienced over the years. Yes, it’s few and far between now and the last time this happened to me was some time ago (and my skin is a shade lighter than Leona’s! LOL!), but it HAS and does happen. The woman in the shop is nothing more than an animal and should be sacked for her disgraceful behaviour toward her fellow human beings! Leona ‘didn’t stand up to herself’ because she was probably in SHOCK, and she was TOLD to leave. It wouldn’t have done her any good to stand there arguing and causing hassle with an already backwards and stubborn shop assistant! She was gracious and simply left, as most decent people would do, she took the higher ground. The only thing I would say is that she should name the shop as I certainly would boycott it. The colour of money is a different matter to these racists.
