Yes we know it’s only February, but there have been a few cracking number ones already this year, yet yesterday One Direction beat them all.

Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik topped the UK singles chart yet again with their Comic Relief song ‘One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)’, making it their their third single to have topped the charts in their home country (the others were ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ and ‘Little Things’).

The band released this latest track as a charity single, and as well as saving Comic Relief money by shooting the music video themselves, the lads have also raised a fortune and it was confirmed as being the best selling single the charity has ever released, as it topped the download charts in more than sixty countries a day after it’s release.

Lucky fans who went to see the boys performing their opening concerts at The O2 Arena in London at the weekend will even have seen the boys performing the track live and according to all reports, it was a very sassy version.

Not only were 1D named as the new UK number one yesterday, but it was also confirmed that their single is the fastest selling single of 2013 so far, after it impressively toppled Avicii Vs Nicky Romero I Could Be The One from the top spot.

The lads sales were thought to have been boosted by their performance at The Brit Awards and the same was true for Justin Timberlake, as the track ‘Mirrors’ he showcased at the awards ceremony jumped 24 places to enter the top five at No 4.
