When Daniel Evans X Factor fate fell into Louis Walsh’s hands last night, he must have been sure he was going home. Just an hour earlier, Louis had said that Daniel had no place in the competition and no chance of winning.

But Daniel chose his final song well, and dedicated Josh Groban’s ‘To Where You Are’ to his late wife. He sang it with passion and even made Louis cry….no mean feat I tell you!

On ITV2’s Xtra Factor spinoff Louis Walsh explained :

"It’s the song. He was singing it about his wife and it’s one of my favourite Josh Groban songs. I could never have voted him out after that. I thought at the start I was going to vote out Daniel, but when Daniel sang that song, he absolutely got to me. In that song, I believed every single word he said."
