Backtrack alert! MC Harvey is trying to claim that he never once claimed to be romantically involved with Cheryl Cole, despite his recent interview with Now magazine.

The magazine claimed that the former So Solid Crew member told them he dated the former X Factor judge in 2010, shortly after she split from her cheating husband Ashley Cole and was supposedly dating American dancer Derek Hough.

Harvey did not come out and deny the reports straight away, in fact when Cheryl challenged him on Twitter and asked why he was lying about their so called history, he tweeted her:

Do you actually want me to tweet some of the messages you emailed me @cherylcole pipe down and stop playing the saint in front of your fans.

He later added:

I had your back @cherylcole untill you sent that shit dissapointed in you if the public seen these emails you would end up with egg on your face.

And let’s get this straight @cherylcole I don’t need no hype of you! I’d rather go broke and work in sainsburys than talk about your personal shit.

I said I had emails, I’ve shown the emails. I’ve cleared my name. That’s all I wanted to do.#proof

However, in a new interview with heat magazine, given coincidentally just days after Cheryl’s people confirmed that she would be taking legal action against Harvey and Now, Alesha Dixon’s ex confirmed that not only has he never been in a relationship with Cole, but he has never even been in a room alone with the singer.

When asked if he has ever been romantically involved with the ‘Promise This’ hitmaker, Harvey said:

Never. I never said that. I am mortified. It’s made me paranoid and it’s got to the point where it’s become exhausting.

The star is placing the blame for the outrageous claims, squarely at the door of Now magazine and added:

I was so looking forward to seeing the interview, cos it had been such a big in-depth chat about my life and my career. Then I walked in and saw a massive picture of Cheryl Cole and the headline. My heart went into my mouth. I said to myself, “My girlfriend’s going to leave me.

Recently Now’s so called legal expert revealed that he had looked at the email exchange between Harvey and Cole and insisted that not only were they genuine, but they also implied a romantic relationship between the pair. They have egg on their face now though and MC Harvey went on to tell Heat that he never claimed to have dated the beauty and continued:

Why would I? All of her fans definitely won’t buy my single after this. I could have done with her 1.5million fans buying my single. Now I’ve got all of them hating me for something that I didn’t do. Why would I want to be against Cheryl’s “army”?
