Mel B is a harsh, harsh judge and never was that more apparent than on tonight’s X Factor show.

The former Spice Girl is a permanent judge on the Australian version of the talent competition and guest judged on the UK version when auditions hit Manchester earlier this year.

After slating Curtis Golden for his rendition of ‘Candyman’, the mum of three turned her sharp tongue and painfully honest mouth to a whole host of other hopefuls.

First up was Maria, a 19 year old student from Peterborough. She sang Christina Aguilera’s ‘Candy Man’ and was told:

“Maria, Im going to give you a big reality check, you should not be singing, find something else to do, it’s a waste of time for you, it’s a definite no from me.”

Next was Lucy, 17, from London, who Gary Barlow loved but Mel told:

“You look like a pop star, you don’t sound like one.”

‘Tae Blondo’ also met her wrath and after singers Beth 22, Holly 23 and Beau 27 sang Mel blasted:

“The dancing was lazy and sloppy, one of you were doing it half heartedly.”

Matt, an 18 year old student from Yorkshire hoped he would fare better, but was told:

“That has to be the worst audition, ever. I can’t help it, I really try and contain it, but that was just shocking!”

But when we saw 82 year old Louis take to the stage we thought that Mel would melt a little, perhaps just a tiny bit.

The sweet pensioner sang Adele’s ‘Make you feel my love’ but while Barlow thought it was a ‘nice’ audition, and Tulisa said it had really pulled her heart strings, Mel responded:

“I actually wanted to fall asleep.”

Gary Barlow was shocked and hit out at the star saying:

‘After the comments today, I’ll be surprised if you sleep tonight!’

She didn’t too perturbed!
